I suspect they ruled cause they were the “best connected”, which happens to have some correlation with age, which allowed them to implicitly pretend that (1) they ruled because of their longer experience and (2) you too can rule when you live long enough

@ryxcommar Also, as someone who’s hired and trained many juniors: hiring juniors is an investment in the future, which makes less sense when the future is more uncertain. Both in terms of “will my company still exist/be growing” and “will we still need so many devs”
