I like/do all sort of things: science fiction; short stories; poems; researching the future of work/automation; data science; drawing birds; baking; plants; etc
@willsolfiac Well, your spouse is in fact your life partner, so it's not inaccurate. Plus we were 'partners' before we were also married, so I sometimes call my husband 'my partner' out of habit, especially in contexts where other people are referring to their partners.
@Aella_Girl I was treated well as a child but I still understood intensely that I lived subject to the will of larger, more powerful people, who could be so unjust. I read in a Roald Dahl book that adults forget this as they grow up, so I did as you did and *forced* myself not to forget it.
@lesmis456@offbeatorbit I have heard this said sincerely by men in their early THIRTIES, and my friend once heard this from a guy who was 41. It is wild
@CartoonsHateHer I can't believe some restaurants call this 'family style'! Around here (uk) it's always called 'small plates' on the menu which is at least descriptive if no less annoying! Family style should indeed be a giant bucket of food to share
@itsannpierce I think it's better to commit to going while being willing to leave early if it's honestly not fun. I very rarely leave, but especially for solo stuff, you can go and still come home early once you've had enough.
@sun_girlxo I'm not sure I understand there being conditions for love at all (it doesn't feel like a meaningful concept? ) Are these behavioral conditions? If no conditions are required then unconditional love doesn't make sense either.
@Aella_Girl And obviously I would only want to do it if I felt that the person offering was confident they could feel like this about it. So knowing these stories are out there is helpful.
@Aella_Girl I'm glad you're talking about this and these are interesting to read. I had a hysterectomy earlier this year shortly after we did IVF. If our children get a chance to be born and live it will only be through a generous woman offering to be a surrogate.
@visakanv I had a short story published and illustrated in 2012 and I really wanted to buy the original from the illustrator. At the time I had absolutely no money to do so and was also a bit too shy to ask, so I just wrote to him and said how much I liked it. Wish I had though!
@supercollider_x @SzMarsupial Yes, but presumably you could put the same software/sensors in any similar vehicle. Instead they've invented a bus that looks like a shoe. It's not clear there's any reason why it has to hug the road like that. It's just to look 'futuristic'.
