This marks a historic moment as it is the first time in which a refugee-led organization (RLO) lead drafts and delivers an NGO statement at ExCom.

UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi acknowledged the statement's powerful message, particularly highlighting the milestone significance of being delivered by an RLO, and emphasized the need for urgent action which the statement called on: saving lives, addressing anti-refugee sentiment, and ensuring meaningful refugee participation.
