COMMUNIQUE RELATIF A LA RUPTURE DES RELATIONS DIPLOMATIQUES ENTRE LE BURKINA FASO ET LA REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE

Le Gouvernement du Burkina Faso porte à la connaissance de l’opinion nationale et internationale qu’il a pris la décision de rompre ses relations diplomatiques avec la République Française pour compter de ce jour 26 Juin 2026.

Cette décision fait suite à une évaluation approfondie de l’état actuel des relations bilatérales entre le Burkina Faso et la France. En effet, les conditions indispensables à la promotion de relations fondées sur le respect mutuel, la confiance réciproque, le respect du principe de non-ingérence dans les affaires intérieures et de la souveraineté nationale, ne sont plus réunies.

Cet état de fait se traduit entre autres par un activisme incessant du régime en place en France contre les intérêts du Burkina Faso, des ambitions néocoloniales affichées avec le soutien actif à des réseaux subversifs et aux terroristes qui endeuillent notre pays et le Sahel, la perfidie et la partialité des discours et des opinions sur notre pays pour en faire un paria de la communauté internationale.

Face à ces visées impérialistes de domination de notre pays et d’asservissement de notre peuple, nous avons fait le choix de la responsabilité et de la souveraineté. Le Gouvernement tient à souligner que cette décision ne remet nullement en cause les liens historiques, humains, culturels et sociaux qui unissent les peuples burkinabè et français. Elle vise exclusivement le cadre institutionnel des relations entre les deux États au plan diplomatique.

Le Gouvernement rassure l’opinion nationale et internationale de sa volonté et de son engagement à assurer la protection des ressortissants auxquels il réaffirme son hospitalité ainsi que la préservation de leurs intérêts. Il invite l'ensemble des citoyens à faire preuve de responsabilité, de retenue et de civisme vis-à-vis des ressortissants français et de l’ensemble des expatriés vivant sur le sol burkinabè, dans le strict respect des lois de la République.

Le Gouvernement réaffirme sa détermination à poursuivre une politique étrangère indépendante, fondée sur la diversification de ses partenariats, le renforcement de la coopération Sud-Sud, le développement de relations équilibrées avec tous les États et la promotion de la paix, de la sécurité et du développement durable.

Le Gouvernement du Burkina Faso demeure ouvert au dialogue avec l'ensemble des États de la communauté internationale sur la base du respect mutuel, de la réciprocité, de l'égalité souveraine et de la défense des intérêts légitimes de chacun. Il demeure engagé à bâtir avec toutes les Nations éprises de paix et de justice, un monde libre, plus juste et plus solidaire.

• Iraqi national team player Aymen Hussein was held for questioning for nearly 7 hours upon entering the United States.

• The Iranian national team spent days dealing with visa procedures at the U.S. Consulate in Türkiye. The U.S. only allowed them entry on match days. Fifteen members of the delegation were denied visas.

PRESIDENT SAMIA OFFICIALLY WELCOMES THE PRESIDENT OF SINGAPORE

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, today officially welcomed the President of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, at a historic ceremony held at the State House in Dar es Salaam on 9 June 2026.

During the official reception, President Shanmugaratnam was accorded full State honours, including the inspection of a Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute in recognition of his State Visit to Tanzania.

President Shanmugaratnam and his host, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, are scheduled to hold a tete-a-tete which will be followed by official bilateral talks between the Government Delegations of Tanzania and Singapore.

The two Heads of State will also jointly address a press conference and witness the signing of one Agreement and four Memoranda of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and Singapore.

While at the State House, H.E. President Shanmugaratnam will attend a State Banquet hosted in his honour by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Thereafter, he will proceed with his official programme, including participation in the Tanzania–Singapore Business Roundtable at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), followed by the delivery of a public lecture at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).

President of Singapore arrives in Tanzania for a three-day state visit

The President of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, has arrived in Tanzania for a three-day State Visit from 8–10 June 2026.

Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, was received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Amb. Dr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), together with other senior government officials, including the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, and the Managing Director of the Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), Eng. Peter Ulanga.

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s State Visit is the first to be undertaken by a President of Singapore since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Singapore in 1980.

The visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic relations, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

During his stay, President Tharman will be accorded an official welcome by his host, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House in Dar es Salaam. The two leaders are scheduled to hold official talks aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas, including trade and investment, the digital economy, port development, education, skills development, tourism, and infrastructure.

The visit will also feature participation in the Tanzania–Singapore Business and Investment Forum, as well as a visit to Zanzibar for discussions with the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.

The State Visit is expected to create new opportunities for economic cooperation and further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Tanzania and Singapore for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
