It’s all fun and games to vibecode a clone of a an enterprise software tool for <$500.. until you actually have to make it enterprise-grade.

Great software for large enterprises hides a lot of complexity from users. Whether it’s maintaining SSO, upgrading security / deps, RBAC, a wide gamut of config-gated features, API access, scaling, release management, integrations with changing APIs - there’s a long tail of important but boring work to really make even simple apps work well in businesses. And it usually doesn’t make sense for an Engg team to pay that recurring maintainence cost.

Companies continue to use SaaS tools like Linear, Notion, Slack, GitHub, Google Workspace, Figma, Salesforce, Workday, Glean and more.

There’s a category of tooling this makes a lot of sense for: bespoke internal tools, dashboards and one-time / few-time use tools. A founder I know famously told me “I vibecoded my own data room tool and the folks I worked with actually really liked it” or “we vibecoded a better version of my Retool customer support UI” But for most other ones, it usually doesn’t make sense.

One might argue that vibe coding ultimately reduces the cost to building competitors to such tools, and that there’s some ensuing price compression. While there might be some truth to that, a version of Amdahl’s Law still applies here. When software ceases to be the bottleneck, it becomes sales and marketing to compete. How many companies have moved off Slack since vibe coding? How many Slack competitors have even come up since 2022? Not many!

I imagine in the future, there will be a lot of cheaper less full-featured open-source alternatives for startups that will eventually try to compete. Hell, maybe models get so good that they pre-empt the need for all these features and one shot it perfectly out of the gate with a background loop that maintains it. Until then, “we’ll just vibecode it” can be a trap.

Given all the features for driver and road safety offered by Mappls App - 3D junction views at flyovers and complex intersections, traffic signals and cameras on map, speed limit and speed breaker and pothole alerts etc - it really would be better for riders and drivers of food delivery, quick commerce, ride hailing, e-commerce and logistics/taxi/delivery fleet apps to navigate using Mappls app for their safety. Mappls has different navigation modes for 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers and trucks, making it even more optimised for each rider or driver of each company.

Also, we work closely with traffic police authorities who publish traffic incidents, road closures and diversions and safety alerts etc on Mappls and also can monitor and respond to the locations of poor road condition and traffic jams that are published on Mappls by us and users!

We have had many drivers and riders say they would love to use Mappls app for work, but Google Maps is hard coded into their companies’ apps. The traffic authorities are also really happy with Mappls, and want riders and drivers to use Mappls so that traffic and road safety ca be coordinated and improved!

Well, all it takes is for these tech companies to change a few lines of code to trigger Mappls app instead of Google Maps from their rider/driver app (https://t.co/0R28sPMzPE, https://t.co/TuWBMpZXNm). A few minutes of effort by a few tech teams can make millions of riders and drivers’ lives better.

In the past we used to hear from some of these companies that they didn’t want to change because not enough people have heard about Mappls app. Things have certainly changed now, with many millions using Mappls app and benefitting from it, so now is the right time these tech companies can make the change.

It will give these companies more good reasons if all Indians tag them and their leadership, asking them to make riders and drivers safer and smarter, by switching to Mappls, which is better for India. From our side, we too are reaching out to these companies too.

FAQs on Rabies:

1. Once developed, rabies is 100% fatal.

2. Which animals can transmit it: Any warm-blooded animal. Dogs are the most common source. But cats, monkeys, bats, camels, and even pigs can also transmit it.

3. Mode of transmission: Bite; lick on broken skin or mucosa (like eyes, nose, or mouth); scratches if the claws are contaminated with saliva; or saliva splashing into the eyes or mouth.

4. Incubation: Rabies symptoms usually appear in 1 to 3 months but can show up as early as a few days or as late as a year, depending on the bite site and virus load. Once symptoms start, it's too late.

5. What to do immediately after a bite, scratch, or lick: Wash the wound with soap and running water for 15 minutes. Then apply an antiseptic like betadine. This step alone can greatly reduce the chance of infection.

6. When to see a doctor: As soon as possible.

7. What if the animal is vaccinated: It doesn't matter. Vaccination is good and reduces the risk but doesn’t eliminate it completely, especially when pet vaccination in India is not uniformly regulated

8. Vaccination, immunoglobulin, or both: For academic interest only :

Category I (licks on intact skin, animal sniffing, contact without bite/scratch) generally requires nothing except washing.

Category II (nibbling, minor scratches without bleeding) requires vaccination.

Category III (deep bites, multiple wounds, licking on broken skin, or bites on head/face/genitals) requires both vaccination and immunoglobulin.

BUT YOU DON’T DECIDE WHICH CATEGORY YOU FALL UNDER OR WHAT TREATMENT YOU NEED. EVEN CATEGORY I EXPOSURE SHOULD BE SHOWN TO A DOCTOR. LET YOUR DOCTOR, AND NOT YOU, DECIDE WHAT’S BEST FOR YOU.

9. Specially for parents: Kids may downplay licks and minor scratches as harmless. So, educate them. Explain the risks and emphasize that they should never hide any contact with dogs from you.
