But that will not happen, by the way. We would rather close than allow the State to choose for us staff”.

COLOMBIA💔💔💔 — One of the most talked-about incidents in Colombia right now.
A woman walking down a street noticed something unusual on the balcony of a residential apartment. At first, she believed she was seeing a father playing with his young son, but after realizing something was wrong, she began screaming for help, drawing the attention of neighbors who called police.
Authorities later raided the apartment, rented through Airbnb by a 35-year-old American from Texas, and found three minors inside, aged 7, 5, and 15.
The discovery sparked outrage among local residents, who gathered outside and demanded that the suspect's face be shown. Anti-riot police were eventually deployed, and after a three-hour standoff, officers safely extracted the man from the building.
Uganda’s Women Are Being Killed & the @PoliceUg are Letting It Happen
In Uganda today, women are being beaten, tortured & killed in horrifying numbers, thugs roam the streets freely, preying on innocent victims, while those meant to protect us, the police seem more concerned with facilitating criminals than delivering justice. How many more women must die before action is taken? @igp_ug1@Tom_Magambo@mucunguzi_jeff@Lukowoyesigyire@Mwesigwa_Frank1@AKasingye@DeoAkiiki@MwesigyeFranks
An online writer has been ordered to refund over $5,500 after the sender mistakenly sent $5,604 instead of $56.04 . The court dismissed the writer’s claim that the excess was “compensation” for past underpayments, pointing out there was no evidence no prior invoices, no proof.
The court found this to be a classic case of unjust enrichment . A mistake doesn’t entitle anyone to a windfall, the writer must refund the excess with interest and costs, reinforcing that opportunism won’t be protected by the law.
Hussein is 26 and lives in Kampala. In 2021 a spinal cord injury changed his life, and he has spent every year since fighting to get his body back.
This is the part that stays with me. His doctors still believe he can recover, and they put the odds high, around 95 percent, with neural surgery, nerve stimulation, and physiotherapy in India. The treatment exists. The path is mapped. What stands between Hussein and walking again is the distance to it, and 200 million shillings.
A number that size has only ever been cleared one way here. Many hands over time. The first contributions are already landing, each with a note wishing him well.
Hussein is the first of the six we chose. His campaign and his video are in the first comment. I am putting in 200,000 myself to start it, because I will not ask you to do anything I am not doing first. Whatever you can give, give it. Every shilling shows on the list, including yours, and Hussein sees each one land.
And money is only one way in. If you can help with media coverage, with doctors, with a connection, anything at all, reach out. This is what coming together actually looks like, and it is the whole reason we built what we built.
I teach auto shop at a small high school. We work on students cars, teachers cars, students parents cars and some community people cars. We only charge for parts and not labor, so we saved some people a lot of money last school year. This last school year we did 126 oil changes, 68 brake jobs, 85 alignments, 4 steering racks, 22 tune ups, 32 struts, 20 shock absorbers, 4 transfer cases, mounted and balanced 82 new tires, 4 timing chains, 15 valve cover gaskets, 14 thermostats, 4 radiators, 12 in tank fuel pumps, 8 EVAP canisters, 6 exhaust manifolds, 4 mufflers, 15 AC repairs including evacuate and recharge, 8 alternators, 22 batteries, 9 starters and so much more! Proud of those students I am!
Guys got annoyed at Daily Monitor for questioning the whereabouts of a public servant that’s been missing in action for several months. So we should stay silent when our taxes continue to pay salaries of people we don’t see, while denying salaries to medical interns that we see.
Wednesday, he was singing happy birthday to his son.
Friday a mob took him from that same son forever.
This is Sydney Gongodyo.
Rugby Cranes international. Pirates champion. Father.
Remember his name. 🕊️
That 2005 flight remains my ultimate travel nightmare: arriving at the airport with my bosses only to realize my passport was still at home.
Cue an adrenaline-fueled dash back. Somehow I made the gate. My superiors were understandably unamused, but they showed immense grace and didn't scold me. I was groomed by the best.
Lesson learned: since then, the passport and wallet get packed a strict 24 hours before any trip.
What a cruel world! To imagine that such a talent - a star who proudly flew our national flag with the Uganda Rugby Cranes - fell at the hands of a mob is as alarming as it is devastating. We all hope that there will be justice for this heinous crime. Deepest condolences to his family, the Rugby fraternity, and every fan who cheered him on. May the almighty grant infinite strength to his loved ones during this dark time.
CCTV cameras show Sydney crossing the road..on the other side, a man snatches a bag from a lady & jumps on a boda that speeds off. Sydney approaches while the lady is screaming " a thief a thief"
She refuses to tell the mob that whoever took her bag took off on a boda boda..
As a Senior Consultant, the reason I haven't raised my voice is simple:
When the interns are gone, I will gladly show up at 5AM, clerk 80 patients, draw the blood, and run the night calls myself.
I am superhuman. Obviously.
As a Senior Nursing Officer, the reason I am silent is obvious:
I have no problem running three wards alone, fixing lines, tracking vitals, delivering babies, doing the paperwork.
I don't need hands. I have dedication.
As a Policymaker, the reason I haven't spoken is elegant:
The interns are a budget problem I solved by terming the students.
My children are not doing internship in Uganda, after all.
As a Patient, the reason I haven't complained is clear:
Even if the doctor cutting me open has worked 36 hours without food, just cut me open and take the baby out.
Hunger sharpens the hands. Everyone knows this.
As a Citizen, the reason I am unbothered is rational:
None of my children is a medic.
I have my pastor.
The system runs on miracles. Always has.
This policy is brilliant.
Let's all stay quiet and watch the magic happen.
One thing about Uganda is we have FOOD….our country has an abundance of food. You’ll never go anywhere else and find someone ordering “all food” to mean rice, matooke, posho, sweet potato, yam & pumpkin all on one plate…but in Uganda that’s a standard lunch of less than $3
This year alone it will cost the government over Ugx1billion to sustain 1 member of parliament, but it’s on medical interns where things are financially unsustainable.
