@abbynieskes On that note I do agree the system needs to change but I think society could treat them better. If you think of them as individuals, all we do is call them to handle the bad situations in life. And then the get so much hate. If there was more discussion flint could be more common
I agree things have to change, I agree racism is a huge terrible problem that needs to be addressed. I will listen to the ways I can help and try my best, but I believe there needs to be a two way street. If we want more good cops, then we need to treat them better.
@abbynieskes I think my main frustration is with people saying we should get rid of cops. My main point is that we need them, and more so that good people that want to speak up will not want to be cops because of the way cops are treated.
@cneufeld16 I'll be sure to read it, but yes, I totally agree there should be reforms! I just hope there can some more understanding too. It seems like people think they have to choose a side, when most people just want good cops. That is what has to be a joint effort.
And please keep me as a friend even if you disagree. I want to have the difficult conversations. I want to listen to what you have to say, but I want you to listen to. LISTENING to eachother is how we improve and find solutions, not violence.
They do good things everyday that we don't see, because the news often covers the negative. They have training in hostage negotiation and homicide investigation. If a crime is committed against you, what would you do without cops.

I mostly don't know what to do right now with all the craziness and I haven't been able to make up my mind on if I think we are overreacting or not but I think this statement made me understand this more.
A school superintendent said something profound in his address cancelling school for the next 3 weeks. He said: In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little.
Hear those words....
