Good thing they spent all that pregame time on Bill Belichick and UNC 😅😅😅 Epic experience at the @CosmLosAngeles watching the TCV @ UNC game tonight! GO FROGS! #SharedReality
Whether you like it or not, having that shiny title or long tenure makes people look up to you, and emulate you. The things you do and say has a ton of impact, and the way you act is going to be copied.
Yes, you.
After yesterday’s tantrum / middle school breakup at the highest levels of government and business (which is not unisual and happens _all_ the time behind closed doors) … I _never_ want to hear “women are too emotional to lead” again. Is this really the best we can do?
@mbruning81 I call this the “time warp” - the driver apparently thinks there’s a time warp around the exit so they couldn’t possibly take the next exit or find any alternate route apart from a complete stop or shooting across 4 lanes of traffic. The rest of us are just lucky to avoid them.
@MarkMcGrathCFP Oh I absolutely don’t think it’s a PWL thing, I didn’t intend to imply it’s a single-company issue. It’s a cultural issue.
If PWL (or any other company) offered a part time option for your same role, would you have made the same decision?
@MarkMcGrathCFP On the surface, this post is an inspiring story of how prudent life / financial choices early in one’s career can result in freedom sooner rather than later / never. But I can’t help but think the TL;DR is “Our culture doesn’t allow me to prioritize my family without quitting.”
@MarkMcGrathCFP It leaves me wondering how much better it would be to normalize the more sustainable work expectations that would benefit everyone, rather than only the most fortunate among us the luxury of not working at all to prioritize non-work life (whether they have kids or not).
@RandallKanna LeetCode exercises are especially a “How badly do you want this” exercise. The culture it builds keeps anyone who doesn’t have endless hours to memorize algorithms from contributing to the industry at scale, even though many of them are the best and brightest.
Don’t shrug your shoulders hoping someone else will say something or fix the problem. You are that someone. It starts with you, your buddies at work, and your leaders.

#DEI is not a four letter word. It’s not a mechanism for #discrimination against white men. It is acceptance of the #reality that more points of view bring more #innovation and better #solutions for today, and more #diverse problems to solve tomorrow.
But thankfully, most of you do #value us, even if it’s in secret. I have received so many messages over the years from men asking how they can help. It’s time to stand with us. There are too few of us to win this battle alone.
I generally make a point not to post about politics even though this account is mine and my opinions are my own. But this is past the point of politics. Men, now is the time (let’s face it, it’s past time) to engage.
