Plus they should charge on the door for the event and parking, which would cause fewer problems

You’ll likely be semi-local, not had to book leave, haven’t paid for a balloon ride/glamping, planned for weeks/months in advance, or booked accommodation and travel. You don’t get it and clearly don’t sympathise with those who have, but each to their own 🤷‍♀️

Maybe all those who think as you do, namely locals who’ve barely lost a penny, should each donate hundreds of pounds to it, to ensure the event continues.

@FayPassey @bristolballoon Because it’s not a free event for a lot of people. There’s balloon ride costs, glamping costs and parking costs for an event which is no longer on. Would you be happy paying for a cancelled holiday just because the weather was bad and you want the resort to be open next year?

This year, it was one I was willing to take, as the event looks amazing and it’s a shame, for all involved, that it didn’t pay off. It’s not one I’d take again though or one I’d recommend to those not local

@StevieusB Yes, I’m so “lucky” to be out of pocket 🤦‍♀️. The balloon teams have already been paid by people for the flights, with money they won’t refund, so they won’t be out of pocket. They’ll instead have thousands of pounds and won’t have to fly.

@p_nut_uk @MrsSophieEvery @bristolballoon You can still use the balloon flight vouchers, but the cost for a fiesta flight is ~60% more than the regular flight vouchers. You can’t get the cost difference back and you can’t use it for next year’s Fiesta. Massive loss of money.

@joanna99565628 @bristolballoon @bbcrb Refunds on the balloon flight premium would be nice. People can still still go to the event and utilise their parking space but those who’ve paid the premium for the Balloon Fiesta flight lose that money. It’s non-refundable and non-transferable to next year!

@MrsSophieEvery @bristolballoon Parking is one thing but many people will have lost a significant amount on the balloon rides themselves. Flight vouchers have a hefty premium for use at the fiesta which is non-refundable. Plus, for those travelling far, there’s travel and hotel expenses = hundreds of pounds!
