@mrclarkinc He is a way better defender than Obi Toppin.
Obi plus good defense is a starting-quality role player. And with Yaxel, he is ready to go in Year 1. You don't have to waste 1 or 2 of his cheap rookie contract years developing him.
@cDubFan People keep disregarding AD like he doesn't exist. Yes, he is going to miss some games, but when he is healthy, he is better than everybody on both rosters.
He was All-NBA in 2024 and an All-Star in 2025. In 2026, he was posting good numbers until the injury.
@cDubFan 20-yr-old Sarr was better than JJJ in REBs, ASTs, BLKs, TOs and PFs, and only barely behind in PTS and TS%. Sarr had the better BPM, PER and VORP.
Are you sure JJJ will be better than 21-year-old Sarr?
@BrysonAkinsNBA How can they sign him? The Wiz are over the cap. They only have the MLE - about $15M.
The only way to get Kesser is to first trade AD for a pick and filler contracts (like to CHA for #14 + Bridges + G.Williams + https://t.co/zFItIDNZon). And then trade that filler for Kessler.
@onballcreator Really interesting stuff. Have you back-tested this type of analysis in previous drafts? Does it have predicting power in helping to identify good draft prospects?
@KevinFolliNBA The real problem is AD at the 4. It’s stupid. He and Sarr should platoon at 5, with only about 10-12 minutes a game where AD plays 4.
Better yet, trade AD for a late lotto pick and draft Yaxel or Morez.
@ETrainSports Agreed. The new anti-tanking rules have just boosted Sabonis' trade value considerably.
Before that, playoff teams didn't want him because he is not a playoff guy. And rebuilding teams didn't want him because he hurt the tank. Now, rebuilding teams will want him again.
@BrianNe29511998 He is right. AJ is a bad fit in DC as long as they plan on running the twin towers lineup. The Wiz can't put both defense and shooting around him.
Now if AD is traded for a pick, then it could work.
@BrettSiegelNBA@ClutchPoints Bobby Portis has no real trade value. ATL won't move down 4 spots in the lottery for a bench big making MLE money.
They'd be much better off staying at #8 (or trading for #12 and #17) and then signing a FA like Rui, Collins or Tobias for the MLE.
@TheDunkCentral@TheNBABase This is dumb. If NY was offered a straight up Luka for Brunson trade, right now, just days after their championship victory, they would still do the deal.
And Brunson over 2-time MVP Nash is also absurd.
@tyler_rucker It's smoke. Trae's camp is negotiating a contract extension.
Why on Earth, would Miami, a team with Tyler Herro, want Trae Young? And why overpay for Young when PG's like Morant and Fox are available for less. Heck, San Antonio would probably give up picks to offload Fox.
@Dat2UReturns Yeah, and even that isn't that much of a concern. In reality, AD is our backup center. He will play all the non-Sarr minutes at center and only play PF for 10-12 minutes a game. Bub will be the nominal backup PG (to the extent we really have one with our decentralized offense).
@G10Trading@Sleeper_Hoops@SleeperWizards@WizardsLead No it's not. That lineup has terrible synergy. Kyshawn can't guard guards. And there's no spacing from the frontcourt.
I'm not saying this means we should draft DP. I'm just saying that if AJ is picked, other changes will eventually be necessary. The lineup fit is bad.
