@Benefitsguynick@Budgetdog_ Ah, well V8 makes things much more reliable in the f150. I’m just a 5.7 tundra guy, so I don’t keep up with the high end ford models, but thanks for the correction.
@Budgetdog_ Expect to change out the cam phasers because they are a known issue in the 3.5 ecoboost turbo v6, likewise the turbos will need replacement around 100k. All that said, at your net worth it’s not a big issue. I believe the Raptor only comes with the turbo v6.
If you struggle with money and never fix it…
Your kids will inherit the consequences of your decisions.
Not just financially.
Emotionally.
They’ll inherit the stress.
The arguments.
The scarcity mindset.
The belief that money is always a problem.
The greatest financial gift you can give your children isn’t an inheritance.
It’s changing your family tree while they’re still watching.
You don't need an inheritance.
You don't need a finance degree.
You don't need a financial advisor.
If you want to get rich, just follow 14 simple rules:
1: The 50/30/20 Rule
If you don't know how to budget...
-> Spend 50% on needs
-> Spend 30% on wants
-> Spend 20% on investments
On a $100k take home salary...
This can make you a millionaire in ~20 years 🤯
2: The 30 Day Rule
If you want something over $1,000...
Wait a full month before buying it.
It might sound extreme...
But it can cut impulse spending by 40%+
3. The 25% Rule
Never spend more than 25% of your take home on housing.
(eg, $10k/mo = $2.5k max payment)
This is the easiest way to keep living expenses controlled...
So you'll never be "house poor" again.
4: The 1% Maintenance Rule
Set aside 1% of your home's value per year for repairs.
(eg, $400k home = $4,000/yr)
Maintenance is inevitable...
But this keeps you protected.
5: The 20/4/10 Auto Rule
If you can't buy a car with cash...
-> Pay 20% down (min)
-> 4 year loan (max)
-> 10% of monthly income (max)
If you can't swing that?
Your car owns you.
6: The Replacement Rule
Don't replace your car until yearly maintenance costs more than the car is worth.
That's the ONLY time it makes financial sense.
Everything else is ego.
7: The 0.2% Fee Rule
Keep ALL investment fees under 0.2%.
A 1% fee sounds harmless...
But over a lifetime, it can steal 20%+ of your portfolio.
On $500k invested for 30 years?
That's a $1.2M difference 😬
8: The Dollar Cost Average Rule
Invest the same amount every week.
92% of professional fund managers can't beat this strategy...
So don't try to be special.
9: The Rule of 72
Use this to see how long it takes for investments to double:
72 / rate of return = years to double
(eg, 72 ÷ 9% = 8 years 👀)
10: The 25x Freedom Rule
Multiply your annual living expenses by 25.
(eg, $80k/yr x 25 = $2M)
Once you hit that number invested?
You'll be able to withdraw your expenses every year...
And never run out of money.
11: The 10x Life Insurance Rule
If anyone depends on your income...
Get a term life policy at 10x your salary.
(eg, $100k salary = $1M policy)
Skip "whole life."
It costs 10x more for worse returns.
12: The Umbrella Rule
Once your net worth hits $500k...
Add an "umbrella insurance policy."
It extends liability coverage beyond home & auto...
And a $1M policy only costs ~$200/yr.
13: The 10% Credit Rule
Keep "credit utilization" under 10%.
(eg, $10k limit = $1k in use)
This alone can boost your score 50+ points...
And save you thousands on interest rates.
14: The Authorized User Rule
Add your kids as "authorized users" on your credit card.
This lets them "piggyback" off your credit history...
So they get an immediate boost when it’s time to build their credit.
Knowing the rules is easy...
But ACTING on them is hard.

@Mrgunsngear I shot with him at a Carolina cup IDPA competition in Oxford NC. I enjoyed his intensity, and his willingness to listen from what the students had to say. He was always gung ho. He’ll be missed.
