@MattWalshBlog Agreed. I heard it for years. 10 years ago feels like yesterday. But it isn’t. And now my 7 and 8 year old sons are in college and finishing high school. The days are short and time picks up speed the older they get.
@ShepMatt When the Pistons were at The Palace you could convince me it was too far away or there weren’t enough hotels. Although it hosted 4 NBA Finals just fine. But they’ve been at LCA for almost 10 years now. The city has hosted larger events. NBA just doesn’t like Detroit.
It’s happening in more and more cities more frequently. True discipline and consequences are the only way out of this. Good luck after making 18 years of excuses and letting everything go.
🚨#BREAKING: The mayor of the North Carolina town of Greenville has just signed a PROCLAMATION OF EMERGENCY and BANNED all "teens" from downtown after 10PM.
The Proclamation of Emergency comes after HUNDREDS of "teens"began BEATING EACH OTHER IN THE STREETS and SWARMING businesses, terrifying residents and patrons.
Police spent over 6 HOURS trying to control the chaos.
@danorlovsky7 Boys talk when they’re distracted. Do things together (games, projects, Watch sports)
This age is new to them. Be patient.
Play the video games with them.
Driveway hoops games were huge for us.
When they start to talk and open up, drop everything right then. They want to talk
@shaguncrypto We crossed 18 and HS graduation with my oldest this year. I was bracing for it. I tried to be ready. And still it’s a sudden moment. We did take the moments seriously and also took many for granted. For as many moments as we had, I wish I had more of them.
This was a foul on Cade Cunningham
Everyone say a prayer for James Harden, the prison ball Pistons leader almost killed him with a 1990’s reckless play!
@TheRobertBshow I didn’t quantify it in hours, but I essentially told someone the same thing recently. It hasn’t always been easy but it has been priceless.
We watched Toy Story 3 last night.
And it hit me how fast life goes.
At the end, Andy is heading off to college.
So he gives his toys to a little girl named Bonnie.
They sit on the floor and play together.
Laughing. Imagining. One last time.
And it hit me…
Andy was Bonnie not that long ago.
My oldest is 8.
It feels like yesterday she was 3, sitting on the floor playing just like that.
It’s going fast.
I mean fast.
While that scene was playing, my 3-year-old looked at me and said,
“I love you, dada.”
I swear time froze.
Because one day I’ll be loading a car and sending my kids off to college too.
No more toys.
No more little voices.
Parents. Don’t rush this season.
You’ll miss it when it’s gone.
A Christmas morning reflection…
95%
By the time your child turns 18, you've spent ~95% of the time you will ever spend with them in your lifetime.
There are specific windows, much shorter than you care to admit, during which certain people and relationships will occupy your life.
You may have only one more summer with all of your siblings. Two more trips with that old group of friends. A few more years with your grandpa. A handful of encounters with that coworker you love. One more long walk with your parents.
If you fail to appreciate these windows, they will quickly disappear.
Time Wealth is about an awareness of these windows.
But more importantly, it’s about taking action against that awareness.
It's about recognizing that you are in more control of your time than you realize.
That you can take actions to create time with the people you love most.
That you can bend these curves.
That 95% is an average—and you’ve never wanted to be average in anything your entire life.
So, show up to that recital. Plan that trip with old friends. Grab that quick coffee. Go on that walk with your parents. Have that meal with your sibling.
In the end, it's not about the journey, it's not about the destination, it's about the company. The people along the way.
Cherish the people and the rest will fall into place as it should.
