@JazRignall Had a mate who owned one. He was well off, working and living with parents. Very generously he’d let us borrow it for weeks on end. I was amazed by Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting, Viewpoint and Ninja commando. Not so much by Ninja Combat (imagine dropping £200 on that stinker!)

@JazRignall Anyone know what “Capcom’s computer aided difficulty” did? Never heard of it before? I’ve played Strider and other Capcom classics but never been aware of, or noticed any changes in game difficulty adjustment whilst playing?

@Timmyretro45 I also used to love Taito’s Land sea air squad, which is a similar concept, but with added vehicles you could commandeer. Not as polished as ikari ans commando, but fun nonetheless.

@Timmyretro45 I’ll say Commando, as I remember that being the more likely game to encounter in arcades, which I played more and at home on the speccy and C64. They’ve both got their merits. Ikari’s arcade controls are tricky to emulate properly though due to the spinner type joysticks.

@JazRignall I remember first playing the “remastered” SNES Mario all stars version. Having just played SMW to death, I was amazed how excellent this game was and couldn’t put it down!

@JazRignall It was International Karate (or possibly Epyx Super Cycle?) at my friend @drcheckov ‘s house. It was at teatime after school, probably mid 80s. IK was such an awesome game and the Rob Hubbard soundtrack amazing! Super Cycle was also brilliant, very similar to Sega’s Hang On.

@scottgibbens @Lord_Arse I thought so! I fondly recall playing Outrun there too. I practised enough to be able to beat it (most) times, which was a real thrill with everyone watching you play! They had some great coin-ops over the years. We also used to go to “golden nugget” in Stokes Croft.

@JazRignall @thegaminglot My Mum’s friend had a relative who was a manager at at Elite. I met him once, whilst at her house. I was around 10 years old and super excited to talk to him about games (I recall chatting about Ghosts n goblins)
He promised to send me some games for my C16, which never came ☹️
