@Theo_TJ_Jordan Yeah, no. You are just wrong. It's easy to keep a quarter in the car, and I'll happily take cheaper food in exchange. There's a reason Aldi is so popular in Florida now.
Watch the bait-and-switch:
A) When the Bible is used to advance a “conservative” cause, it’s “evil Christian Nationalism” (that he’s spent his entire campaign decrying) or it’s “forcing your religion on other people” and must be FORECEFULLY DENOUNCED.
But when the Bible is used to advance a progressive cause, aw shucks it’s just me being Christlike, “speaking truth to power”, and seeking “justice” or “compassion.”
His whole campaign is, ”Christian Nationalism for ME, but not for THEE” and hoping you won’t notice.
B) What progressives do is take the commands Jesus gave to INDIVIDUALS and apply them to the GOVERNMENT.
When Christians use words like “caring” or “generous” they mean caring for people and being generous with their own resources.
When progressives use the words “caring” and “generous”, they mean “vote for the government to forcibly take OTHER PEOPLE’S RESOURCES at gunpoint and redistribute it against their will.”
Of course, this *always* backfires because governments do not work like people and churches, so with governments you tends to get more of what you INCENTIVIZE and less of what you PENALIZE.
This is why cities and states that throw billions of $ at “solving homelessness” end up with MORE HOMELESSNESS, they do not “solve homelessness.”
This is a theology-nerd thing, but in general progressives want the government to do the roles of the church and individual (charity, compassion, care), and they want NOBODY to do the role of the State (administer justice and be a “terror to the wrongdoer”).
^^^this always results in societal chaos and darkness.
Further…
What Talarico (and other progressives) always do is selevtively edit Jesus, so that he becomes a mascot for their cause.
I can do a “when Jesus…” list too, but James won’t like mine…
- When Jesus defined marriage, he defined it as only between a man and a woman
- When Jesus talked about gender, he rooted it in biology, saying “he made them male and female”
- When Jesus talked about harming children (abortion), he said it would be better for you to have millstone tied around your neck and be cast into the ocean
- … that time when Jesus encouraged his followers to buy weapons for self-defense (Luke 22:36)
- Jesus’ family strictly obeyed the government’s border / migration / census laws.
- When Jesus talked about salvation, he said belief in him was the ONLY WAY
- When Jesus healed the sick, he didn’t need a deductible… there were no insurance companies in AD 30, and Jesus was using miraculous power, not paying doctors. This would be like an anti-vaxxer saying “JESUS WASNT VACCINATED!” as justification for their position)
- When Jesus fed the hungry, he FED THE HUNGRY. He did not vote for the government to forcibly take other people’s stuff at gunpoint and redistribute it against their will.
I could go on and on and on and on…
The point is, Jesus is a LORD of the universe, not a MASCOT for your cause.
@DefiantLs The point is: Christians should be taking care of hungry and needy, not the government. And we can do it better, less waste. No one is saying 'let the kids go hungry'.
@desitechsuppoat Done! I'm a software engineer who lost his job to a group of Indians. I had a good career, is time for the next generation of Americans to have a chance.

If you don't do this, immigration lawyers are going to use the sob stories their clients are already leaving (they've filed over 9,000 of them!) to federal judges and claim that not one Amercian is in favor of ending the 60-day grace period on H-1B

@WatsonArinda The worst thing missionaries to Africa did is tell converts they had to 'set aside' any wives more than one. What terrible family destruction. Many groups have now stopped that - and I can put you in touch with many independent thriving churches in Africa that allow multiple.
Billy Graham on polygamy:
"Christianity cannot compromise on the question of polygamy. If present-day Christianity cannot do so, it is to its own detriment. Islam has permitted polygamy as a solution to social ills and has allowed a certain degree of latitude to human nature but only within the strictly defined framework of the law.
Christian countries make a great show of monogamy, but actually they practice polygamy. No one is unaware of the part mistresses play in Western society. In this respect Islam is a fundamentally honest religion, and permits a Muslim to marry a second wife if he must, but strictly forbids all clandestine amatory associations in order to safeguard the moral probity of the community."

@KestrelArts@WatsonArinda You can't make a Biblical case that more than one wife is not spiritually 'married'. Legally in the US maybe not, but it does not take the state to make a covenant marriage - and never did. Many Biblical cases, are you going to say they were not married?
"Tracking Passenger Misbehavior: If a passenger damages the interior, the fleet operator automatically matches the time of the damage to the user account that booked the ride. The internal cameras can verify exactly what happened, allowing the company to charge the rider's credit card for repairs or pursue legal action."
"She argues the restriction was never just piety. Monogamous societies tend to show less crime, less domestic violence, and less economic skew, with the biggest protection landing on women and on men who would otherwise be locked out."
I'd challenge the correlation here. Most Christian societies in the last 500 years have tended to be monogamous, and many non-Christian societies polygamous. Perhaps it is the Christian values that cause the positive effects. No one has truly tried a Biblical Christian society with polygamy accepted (I think only a small amount would be needed, unless there's war) - perhaps the positive effects would be even greater, with no women left out, and no children without fathers.
@Brian_Sauve This is exactly right - but we won't "sober up" via the ballot box, it will take a fight, and probably some level of social chaos. Some "hard times", to make "strong men" again. I pray it can happen for my grandchildren, without too much bloodshed.
