@HannahDellaFave This is definitely a good example of the generational gap between Gen Z and Millennials, with constantly questioning the trends of each others' generations, when in reality they are both going through similar trend cycles as each other.
@prathapatelru I really like this tweet because it exemplifies the reading very well with how people rely so heavily on nostalgia but also need to learn to move forward.
A hashtag that demonstrates the sentiments in the reading is #okboomer . It demonstrates the generational gap between the baby boomer generation and millennials and gen z. There is a completely different understanding of community between these generations with the #DCIM352
@Kjbarnes0 This is so true! Yet so much of our society has become so reliant on social media that we almost have no choice but to give into it. Whether it be professional or personal reasons, we all have to utilize it in modern day.
#TheSocialDilemma exposes much of how modern social media has taken over our lives and capitalizes off of our addiction. With super intelligent algorithms that understand what we want, it is quite insane just how much these corporations know about us. #DCIM352
@Bianca64466558 I love this example because Minecraft is the true example of mods, allowing you literally change the game itself to customize your experience rather than playing the base game.
An example of immaterial labor would be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Players had much customization and "modding" according to their specific experience with such an expansive and diverse open world. It allowed them to create their own path they desired like in the
@BrianLidc Hi Brian,
I always found the Occupy Wall Street movement so interesting and how they have grown their following both in person and especially online. Spreading awareness for those harmed by unchecked capitalism through the movement, making it so important.
They post about issues on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, spreading awareness for the Philippines through the online space. As well as pictures of modern occurences and infographics!
#DCIM352 A counterpublic I found to be very interesting is Anakbayan NJ. They are actively organizing and posting within the New Jersey and New York area fighting against American imperialism and shedding light on Filipinx issues here and in the motherland.
@hm467scarletma1 I found this post really interesting considering they were able to utilize Facebook and Twitter as far back as 2010! It really shows how far we have come with organizing social movements and utilizing the online space for them.
@NoahPhilipose I like this example of how Nike built their brand through this slogan and now hashtag. It is so crazy how much power they have that the phrase is immediately associated with their branding!
@srimtaylor I really like this example because it has created a community and brave space for people online to come forward with these issues! It is definitely a great example of a networked public.
@June_Park1003 I really like this example of how the government has worked to promote wearing masks during the pandemic through social media. I've seen it literally everywhere, like TikTok, Twitter, and even Instagram.
