@Tsar_Martyr No it does not. Which you would know if you’ve ever studied moral philosophy.
Also, atheism does not rule out personhood or free will.
What are you even talking about?
@StanfieldBrent1@realJennaEllis But is it your belief that everything happens the way god wills? That he has decreed all things that come to pass, that he knew exactly how this world would unfold and created it in exactly this way?
In other words, is this the best possible world god could create?
Are there any reformed presups on this app that can actually defend their claims about the Laws of Logic?
After giving an account, I usually just get “well have you considered nuh uh!” or they just run away.
Anyone willing to have an actual discussion with me and get to the bottom of it?
@AntosteIIa@darwintojesus This is the right question bc they say “if subjective morality was true then ____” and go on to describe the exactly world we live in lol
@ChrisTheTopG1@zaino_jus I don’t even know how your way would even work.
Do you believe you’re using THE definition of “god” or are you (obviously) using the definition of god in your religion, tradition, and culture?
I’d say suffering is a state.
It’s fine if you want to define it as a privation of a good.
Here’s what I meant by “any amount of suffering”: The problem is that if you’re presupposing that god is good, so no amount of suffering and death could convince you that he’s culpable enough to be evil. Which means you’re using “good” as a label rather than a description.
You’re forced to say that every single event, all things considered, is good and happened in the best way possible. Which seems morally insane to me.
You have an internal contradiction between the sovereignty and decree of gods will, his infinite goodness, and immense suffering. Simply saying he’s got a good plan doesn’t not resolve that
Well to our other talking point on definitions, people mean a lot of different things with these terms.
I’m a naturalist, I hold to relational ontology, and I believe nature includes multiple dimensions: relations, space time, physical, temporal, conscious etc
I call it Relational Realism
But that’s how definitions work. There is not a definitive official unchanging definition for every word, especially in philosophy and religion. The irony is that the example you gave of “god is everything” is literally a definition that many people hold to called Pantheism.
You can actually do that and then we can see if it’s internally consistent, does it make sense of what we know, and is it as parsimonious as it can be.
Do you have a dictionary definition of god that you’re using or is it just how god is defined in your specific tradition? (Of course it’s the latter, and that’s ok)
@darwintojesus I’m convinced there is not a single internet apologist alive that has actually tried to understand moral philosophy.
@darwintojesus definitively hasn’t. Does anyone know where I can find one?
