Why is there a creatinine bump when starting an SGLT2 inhibitor?

Constriction of the afferent vessel to the kidney corrects the hyperfiltration seen in diabetes.

Just like after starting an ACE inhibitor, the initial creatinine bump protects renal function in the long-run.
