At a symposium at St Anne’s College Oxford yesterday I greatly enjoyed hearing @BrianKlaas’s perceptive and thoughtful views on the US political landscape, and am hugely embarrassed that he (and other would-be UK citizens) should have to endure this charade.

After the cardless payment upgrade, it is now taking longer for my payment to be accepted using my debit card. Can you explain why this is? Everytime I cross the bridge there are now queues.

It took five years and 1,000 men to dig the #Bristol New Cut using shovels, picks and explosives. Upon completion in 1809, a banquet was held for the workers, with each given a gallon of ale to celebrate - leading to a massive, drunken brawl between the English & Irish workers.
