I just completed my Smart IV (drip) Monitor project. 💧

This project has been a really interesting combination of embedded systems, signal processing, BLE, and mobile development.

The system uses an ESP32 to monitor an IV drip in real time, detect individual drops, calculate the drip rate (DPM), and display the information on a TFT screen.

I also built a Flutter mobile app that communicates with the monitor over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), allowing the drip information to be viewed remotely and the counter to be reset from the app.

The system also includes audible alerts for important events, including when dripping starts, when the system determines that the IV has finished, and when the counter is reset.

One of the biggest lessons from this project was that the algorithm isn't always the limiting factor.

The IR sensor itself introduces noise and variability, which means there is a practical limit to how accurate the detection can be with a single sensor. Getting truly reliable measurements would require improving the sensing approach, potentially with multiple IR sensors or a more precise sensing method.

For now, though, I'm happy to have taken it from:

Sensor → Embedded detection → TFT → BLE telemetry → Flutter app

and gotten the entire system working end-to-end.

I have launched the actual test of this AI Glass that I built to help blind people and people with visual impairments
I started testing it directly on the face of a person with a visual impairment to see how it would work in real life👓

And what amazed me the most is that after the blind person wore the glass, he said that for him, it was amazing
