A woman has levelled serious allegations of sexual harassment against the Inspector of Moodbidri Police Station in Dakshina Kannada district.

The woman claims that when she visited the police station seeking the release of her husband, who had been arrested in what she describes as a false case, Inspector Sandesh allegedly harassed her.

According to the woman’s complaint, the Inspector demanded sexual favours in exchange for releasing her husband, or alternatively asked for a bribe of ₹25 lakh. She further alleged that the Inspector threatened her, claiming he had paid ₹50 lakh to the Home Minister to secure his posting, implying that he had strong political backing.

When the woman said she was unable to pay the money, the Inspector allegedly warned that if she did not comply with his sexual demands, he would implicate her husband further by opening a rowdy sheet against him.

The victim also alleged that Inspector Sandesh told her many women had faced similar situations and had complied with his demands. She further claimed that he threatened to involve drug peddlers to damage her reputation if she refused to cooperate.

The woman has lodged a complaint with senior officials against Inspector Sandesh.

However, she alleges that no action has been taken so far, claiming that the Inspector enjoys the protection and favour of his superiors, which has prevented any departmental action.
