It has come to our notice that Southern Railway is proposing a ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป๐ป๐ฎ๐ถ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐นโ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น special train via Palakkad Jn, reportedly utilising the lie-over rake of Train No. 16621/16622 Mangaluru CentralโRameswaram Express, which remains stabled at Mangaluru Central from Monday to Saturday.
This is a matter of serious concern. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐ช๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐๐ฎ๐โ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, yet once again, a rake available at Mangaluru Central is being proposed for a Southern-bound service towards Tamil Nadu/Keralam.
We would like to make it clear that However, when additional special trains from these regions are proposed, other suitable options can be explored, including ๐จ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป in the southern part of Mangaluru. Ullal is well connected to NH-66 and the local road transport network and can serve as an important southern passenger terminal for Mangaluru.
This would allow Mangaluru Central to be utilised more effectively for services catering to the long-pending connectivity requirements of the local population. Mangaluru Central has immense potential to serve as a major terminal for long-distance services towards Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka, the Konkan region, Maharashtra and Northern India.
When passengers have been continuously demanding more trains in these directions, the available rake capacity should be utilised to strengthen connectivity on these routes instead of once again allocating it for a Southern-bound service.
Southern Railway has previously restricted services such as the ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐๐ต๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐, ๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ง ๐ ๐๐บ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ถโ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฟ๐ ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ and several holiday special trains to Mangaluru Junction, while the Vijayapura Express also had to be extended to Mangaluru Central only after sustained public pressure. Such an approach should not be repeated now, especially after the transfer of Mangaluru to South Western Railway.
The lie-over rake of Train No. 16621/16622 should instead be utilised for the If this is not feasible, the rake should be utilised to introduce a new service from Mangaluru Central towards Bengaluru, Pune or Delhi, rather than once again allocating it for a Tamil Nadu/Keralam-bound service.
Mangaluru Central should not continue to be treated merely as a convenient terminal for Southern-bound services while the region continues to await better connectivity towards Karnataka, Konkan, Maharashtra and Northern India.
We therefore urge the ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐๐ฎ๐๐, ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐ช๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป not to permit the available rake at Mangaluru Central to be diverted for another Southern-bound service and to ensure that Mangaluru Central is prioritised for services addressing the long-pending connectivity demands of the region. ๐๐ณ ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐บ ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ง๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐น ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฟ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ, ๐๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ ๐จ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, while Mangaluru Central should be utilised for services that cater to the connectivity needs of Mangaluru and the wider coastal Karnataka region.

@RailMinIndia@AshwiniVaishnaw@VSOMANNA_BJP@SWRRLY@DrmMys@GMSRailway@CaptBrijesh
@SWRRLY@DrmMys@CaptBrijesh kindly request SWR to run one rake Vandebharath on MAQโYPRโMAQ 6 days a week, and utilise the second rake along with Train 16515โ3 days eachโproviding the coastal region with 6 days of service per week.
@CaptBrijesh Kindly request the @RailMinIndia to introduce a MAQโSBCโMAQ Vande Bharat Express, with a morning departure from Mangaluru Central (MAQ).
Please consider this long-pending demand.
@DrmMys, @SWRRLY@dkdistrictrail Extended YPRโMAO-YPR Vande Bharat has multiple stops from Udupi onwards, but Bantwal is completely ignored! Why this discrimination? SWR must add a Bantwal stop immediately and address the needs of thousands of passengers in the region.
@aroorprashanth@AshwiniVaishnaw@VSOMANNA_BJP@CaptBrijesh Exactly. If the MAQโYPRโMAQ Vande Bharat is introduced, primary maintenance at Mangaluru Central (MAQ) is a must. This will ensure that the train remains dedicated to the MangaluruโBengaluru sector.
@dkdistrictrail I got information that the YAR-MAO Vande Bharat will have stops at Kundapura, Murdeshwar, Gokarna, Karwar .If so many stations are being considered for stops, then why not Puttur and Bantwal as well? I hope Puttur and Bantwal are also included as stops for this train.
@Rail_SBHR@DrmMys@SWRRLY@CaptBrijesh@VSOMANNA_BJP@dkdistrictrail@AshwiniVaishnaw@DRMPalghat As of now, creating a separate Mangaluru Railway Division under SWR may not be possible. However, if KR is eventually merged with Indian Railways and brought under SWR, there could be a stronger administrative basis for considering Mangaluru as a separate railway division.
@SWRRLY@DrmMys From Oct 1 must address the language issue at MAQ & MAJ. Ensure Kannada/Tulu signage at both stations instead of unnecessary Malayalam boards. Provide Kannada/Tulu speaking staff at ticket counters. Also, all trains originating from MAQ must have Kannada signage.
@b_shreekara@DRMPalghat@RailwaySeva@GMSRailway@dkdistrictrail If Kannada is not given its rightful place alongside Malayalam, then there is no reason to start this train from MAQ. Let it terminate at Kasaragod. From October 1, Mysuru Division must address this issue and ensure equal treatment for Kannada.
@nithin_sujathan@AshwiniVaishnaw@drm_tvc Palakkad divison itself created the frustration in Mangaluru. Gomateshwara Express was denied extension to MAQ ,citing no platform availability, while new Kerala bound trains were added from MAQ. Now MAQ move to SWR from Oct1. Mangaluru deserves better connectivity not neglect

@KRCL_UsersVoice 16511 was introduced after protests and requests from DK railway users as YPRโMAQ, later extended to KAWR via MAJ. We did not oppose it then.Similarly, 165956 should be extended to Madgaon, giving passengers from Subrahmanya, Bantwal and Puttur direct Goa connectivity.
@KRCL_UsersVoice If 16511 is rerouted, where is the watering facility? It is available only at MAJ. Please donโt divert the topic, your own logic says trains provide faster, efficient and better connectivity to the entire region. The same should apply here.
@KRCL_UsersVoice If that is the logic, then Panchaganga Express should also be extended to Madgaon. Trains provide faster, more efficient and better connectivity to the entire region. can you suport?
