In this photo are two faces of the same regime of terror.

One was the head of Revolutionary Guard in Iran, Hossein Salami, he ordered my assassination. The other was the man sent to kill me on U.S. soil, at Fairfield University, where I was scheduled to speak about freedom.

One is now dead, taken out in an Israeli operation. The other, Carlisle Rivera just pleaded guilty in a U.S. court on Friday and will spend years in prison.

Thanks to the @FBI, @TheJusticeDept, the U.S. law enforcement for making sure dictators face consequences. Now it’s time for Canada, Europe, and the rest of the free world to do the same and stop the Islamic Republic’s and it’s allies campaign of transnational repression.

Here is the good news:

On Friday, Carlisle Rivera pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire as part of the third plot by the Islamic Republic of Iran to assassinate me. This was the third attempt by Tehran’s regime to eliminate me on U.S. soil and I am alive today only because of the vigilance and dedication of U.S. law enforcement.

Rivera and his accomplice even traveled to Fairfield University, where I was scheduled to speak, as part of their surveillance and planning. Today’s guilty plea closes one chapter of this story but make no mistake, the Islamic Republic’s war against dissidents continues.

The regime in Tehran is weakened, but it remains relentless. It still dispatches assassins across the world to silence those who challenge its tyranny. And this case should serve as a warning: Farhad Shakeri, the Revolutionary Guard operative who recruited Rivera, was also involved in a later plot to assassinate President Donald J. Trump.

The same machinery that targets women like me for speaking out is also willing to target U.S. president. That is not the behavior of a government, it is the signature of a global terrorist organization terrified of truth, freedom, and the courage of those who refuse to be silent.

They tried to bury me. But I am still here. And every failed plot makes me more determined to expose their crimes and amplify the voices they fear most, the people of Iran demanding an end for Islamic Republic.

As long as I breathe, I will fight not just for myself, but for every Iranian woman who refuses to be silenced.
