Building a Zero-Waste Hyderabad through Decentralised Solutions !!

Under #SwachhSurvekshan, #GHMC hosts a brainstorming session on Decentralized & Community-Level Wet Waste Management at Abids, bringing together RWAs, startups, NGOs, practitioners and citizens to focus on practical zero-waste solutions.

The session features expert insights from Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, IAS (Retd.), Distinguished Professor of Practice & Director, CEUG&ID–ASCI; Sampath Kumar Kabothu, Senior Counsellor, IGBC; and JSR Annamayya, IEC Expert, along with GHMC officials and sustainability practitioners.

Key discussions focus on :
♻️ Citizen consultation to understand ward-level sanitation challenges,
♻️ Planning pilot implementations for decentralized wet waste processing,
♻️ Community composting and biogas solutions,
♻️ Behaviour change through strong IEC strategies
♻️ Challenges faced by RWAs in wet waste handling
♻️ Scalable decentralised models for urban areas,
♻️ International best practices from Singapore & Japan adapted for community-level action.
♻️ Reinforcing sanitation as a key priority of Government policy,
