Yobe State!

I feel very sad to hear about the tragic boat mishap in Nguru Local Government Area of Yobe State, which has claimed 29 precious lives, with several others still missing according to reports. This is a heartbreaking loss that has, unfortunately, plunged many families and communities into mourning and distress.

The preliminary findings pointing to overloading and structural defects are troubling, and they reflect the long-standing challenges in inland water transportation in Nigeria.

I commend Governor Mai Mala Buni for directing YOSEMA to work with relevant federal agencies to strengthen safety measures, enforce the use of life jackets, and institutionalise effective policing of waterways.

I am using this medium to convey my heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Yobe State, especially the families of the victims, His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni and the Emir of Nguru.

May Allah (SWT) grant eternal rest to the departed, heal the injured, and give the bereaved the strength to bear this painful loss.

It is with profound sadness, yet with complete submission to the will of Allah, that I received the news of the passing of our spiritual father and scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

Throughout his blessed and impactful life, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a beacon of Islamic knowledge and sincere guidance. Through his numerous Islamic institutions and Tafsir sessions that drew millions, he nurtured generations with sound Islamic teachings, moral excellence, and love for the Qur’an and Sunnah.

His legacy as a statesman, peacemaker, and unifier will forever remain etched in our hearts and in the history of our nation.

On behalf of my family and associates, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, his students, and the government and people of Bauchi State.
