"Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee."--MLK
May God use @CovenantCollege and @chalmerscenter to let King Jesus' freedom ring from Lookout Mountain. Oh Lord, make us faithful.
Our annual lecture series, Res Publica, starts tomorrow! Each year a guest speaker is invited to campus to address a topic that will engage and challenge our students and how they engage with current cultural issues.

So many churches in the U.S. canceled Sunday services because of Christmas. Meanwhile in Ukraine, churches under Russian occupation continue to meet daily to pray together— even when all their pastors had to evacuate due to threats to their lives.

Mike Gerson was a friend and an example—of hard work and humility, of someone who could walk into the halls of power and not come away changed. A "brilliant mind enhanced by a big heart," as GWB said today. RIP.
Lots will be—and should be—said about Michael Gerson's legacy, esp. on politics and policy. But the final lines of his 2019 sermon will echo in my head:
"So how do we know this? How can anyone be so confident?
"Because we are Lazarus, and we live."
