The African-American community is owed 40 acres and a mule plus interest. From slavery to Jim Crow to redlining, the African-American community has been used and abused for far too long. Dr. King's commitment to eradicating the Triple Evils of racism, poverty, and militarism is just as important for us to continue today as it was during the Civil Rights Movement.

He was at the forefront of speaking against America's addiction to violence and militarism.

Today, we must continue to view the world through the lens of Dr. King's words.

Violence is not the answer. Militarism is not the answer. Making justice and democracy a reality for all of humankind is the answer.

One of his most famous quotes states, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." These words are as appropriate today as they were when they were first uttered by Dr. King in 1963.

We must demand justice and condemn all forms of injustice, especially if our own elected officials are responsible.

Everything happening in Gaza today is an American issue. The United States is directly involved in what is happening. This issue encompasses multiple issues at once. It is a US foreign policy issue. It is an economic issue. It is an environmental issue. It is a human rights issue. It is a social justice issue.

I was offered $20 million to withdraw from the senatorial race and to run against my friend @rashidatlaib. Even knowing where I stand on AIPAC's influence on our elections and foreign policy, the pro-Israel lobby had the nerve to suggest that I would even consider taking a dime from them.
