The Plaque was unveiled by his wife Ellen and Son Sean McDonnell who attended the ceremony.

The Connacht Athletics Council have agreed to name their annual coaching award after the legendary Mayo coach John McDonnell.

John McDonnell, who has been described as America’s winningest coach was born in Crossmolina, County Mayo on July 2, 1938.
