@DeepakAdk@mohanpmainali Yes. Also there is a beautiful book on eels (literally titled "Book of Eels")that appeared a few years ago by a Swedish writer - part biology, part (social) history. https://t.co/EZPlCc0xAp
@DKThomp@PhilKlay That makes sense as Dostoesky's works were serialized in newspapers and he was writing against a deadline (and also keep off his creditors - from his heavy gambling - at bay).
@arjunsigdel94@Dorje_sDooing No contradiction there. As Jung said - Sentimentality is the mask for brutality. Only a punitive society would provide such succor.
@SumanaSiliguri Beautiful review. And since you bring up '..Biswas', where he (Biswas) finally build his house is in 'Sikkim Street'. In real life - it is his father's story after all - it was 'Naipaul Street'. (from 'Nepal').
@pbmehta America has always been defined by race and space - less by inequality. Historically, its inequality ( from Gini coefficient) has been on par with that of Europe. Even now, there are more billionaires in Sweden( per capita) than US.
@WendellPierce As a subscriber, I have noticed that quality of productions in Arena Stage, admittedly not great before she started, has gone down even further. I don’t think this is a case of her race or gender.
@jamesamarcus@BoylanRoger Fascinating stuff. For a reader unacquainted with Italian ,the first translation is the 'true' copy. I still cherish Rosenthal's translation of 'The Periodic Table' even though Goldstein's translation (in Collected Works), might be more 'faithful'.
@jrs437@ForeignGER_RBLX Not clear from the story what the German Ambassador was subjected to. He too should have gone through proper channels in MoFA and not bulldoze his way to the PMO.
