The great scholar AbdurRahman As-Sa’dee, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
“Whenever a slave reflects at length upon the blessings of Allah, the outward ones and the inward ones, the religious ones and the worldly ones, he sees that his Lord has given him a great deal of good and has pushed away from him many evils. And there is no doubt that this drives away worries and sorrows, and brings about joy and delight.”

From Anas ibn Maalik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
((When a man leaves his house and says:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, there is no ability and no strength except with Allah.
It is said at that moment:
“You have been guided, you have been provided for, and you have been protected.”
So the shayaateen move away from him,
and another shaytaan says:
“How can you get to a man who has already been guided, provided for, and protected!?”))

🔺Why do some people seek knowledge, then go astray or fall back⁉️
By Shaykh Abu Al-Abbaas Aadil Mansoor Al-Baashaa, may Allah the Most High preserve him
We have heard of people in the past, and we see among people of our own time, those who sought knowledge and sought a great deal of it, yet they strayed from the Sunnah into innovation, or they fell back and did not remain firm, and they differed with one another, while all of them were seeking knowledge. So how does this happen?
I will point to the reasons briefly.
This points to a defect in what they are seeking, or a defect in the seekers themselves.
The first: a corrupt intention and a defect in sincerity.
The second: an error in defining what knowledge is, how it is taken, and what its source is. Most of the sects of this Ummah went astray in the meaning of knowledge, whether in matters of belief, or in fiqh, acts of worship, and many sects arose because of this.
We know what correct knowledge is, in a clear summary: it is what has come from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and from his Companions. Whatever came after them that is not supported by the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah and what the Companions were upon is not knowledge. Ibn Mas’ood, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “The people will remain in a good state as long as they take knowledge from the Companions of Muhammad. But when they take it from other than them, they are destroyed.” Likewise, there is the error in the way it is learned: taking it from the people of desires and innovations, and taking it from one whose wickedness and deviation from the religion is known.
The third reason is that they sought knowledge, but transgression occurred between them, along with various diseases such as envy, oppression, lying, and other than that.
The fourth: following desires, for desire is a dangerous matter. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said: {But as for the one who feared standing before his Lord and restrained his soul from desire, then indeed Paradise will be his abode} [An-Naazi’aat:40-41] And in the hadeeth of Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-Aas, he ﷺ said, ((None of you truly believes until his desire follows what I have come with.))
Fifth: giving preference to this world, its enjoyments and its pleasures, and being eager to obtain the enjoyment of this world, so he deviates away from seeking correct knowledge.
Sixth: the absence of patience or its weakness. He is not patient with poverty. He is not patient with the oppression of an oppressor, so he transgresses and commits injustice. He is not patient with the cravings and pleasures of this world. He is not patient with acquiring knowledge, with its hardship, with committing it firmly, and with acting upon it. He is not patient with the harm of the creation while calling them, teaching them, and guiding them.
What did Luqmaan say to his son in his advice? {and enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, and be patient over what befalls you} [Luqmaan:17] And did those who rebelled against those in authority rebel for any reason other than their lack of patience? Some people, because of their lack of patience, may fall into shirk and calling upon other than Allah. It may cause him to fall into innovation, such as rebellion and other than it. And it may make him hate this good thing, which is knowledge and learning, so he returns even more ignorant than the common people.
And before this, having faith in the decree of Allah. When he ﷺ was asked about how often he made a supplication, “O Messenger of Allah, how much you supplicate saying, ((O Allah, O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.))” He said, ((Indeed the hearts are between two of the Fingers of Ar-Rahmaan; He turns them as He wills)) in a manner befitting the Majesty of Allah, the Glorified. And he ﷺ said, in the two Saheehs from Abu Hurayrah, ((Those who came before you were only destroyed by their many questions and their differing with their prophets.))
🌅 *Returning to Prayer*
*Why this matters so much:*
➡️ The prayer is the first thing a person will be asked about on the Day of Judgement. If it is in a good state, they will succeed and prosper; if it is neglected, they will face failure and loss.
➡️ And in this life, prayer is what keeps a person’s religion together. When it’s protected, other good deeds become easier; when it’s neglected, everything else starts slipping too.
➡️ When you think you are "too busy" for prayer, remember that the One you are too busy for is the very One who gave you the time, health, and provision you are busy with. And what He requires of you is to stand before Him in prayer for a few minutes, five times a day.
*The door back is wide open:*
➡️ Allah loves those who repent. No matter how long you've neglected the prayer, the door of repentance remains open as long as you’re alive - and Allah's joy at His slave's repentance is greater than you can imagine.
➡️ Allah did not prescribe prayer because He needs your worship. He prescribed it because He knows you need Him. No one benefits from your prayer except you.
➡️ One of Shaytan's greatest tricks after making you miss prayers is convincing you that you're too far gone to start again. That feeling of shame is actually a sign your heart is still alive.
*How to return, starting today:*
➡️ Begin with sincere tawbah: admit your neglect, ask Allah to forgive you, and make a firm intention to guard your prayers going forward.
➡️ Decide now, and pray the current prayer if its time is still in - or the next one when it comes in. Not tomorrow, not Ramadan, not when things settle down.
➡️ Keep company with people who pray. Environment carries you when motivation fails.
*A thought to sit with:*
➡️ One day you will pray your last prayer without knowing it was the last. None of us gets to choose which one it is. But you can choose what you do with the prayer that comes next.
*The first step:*
➡️ Sincere repentance can wipe away years of neglect in a single moment - that is how vast Allah’s forgiveness is. After that, don’t let Shaytan keep you looking backwards. Your responsibility is simply the prayer in front of you. Begin there.
🔹SEEKING PROVISIONS🔹
Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, explained:
Many of the youth today are upon the idea that a person must either have a job, or else he will not work. He thinks he must be employed, and if not, then he sits idle, having given up on the means, so he loses out. Whoever thinks he must have a job, this is a mistake. If you do not find a job, then seek provision through something other than a job.
In fact, seeking provision through something other than a job is even better, because a job is limited. We have never seen anyone grow wealthy through a job. With great effort it barely covers him and his children. But the one who buys and sells and works, this one usually becomes rich and gains wealth.
So we direct the youth not to restrict themselves to a job. Rather, they should seek provision, and a job should be the last thing. They should seek provision through buying and selling. They should seek provision through work and taking up a craft. They should seek provision through any of the many means.
The doors of provision are many, and praise be to Allah, and among them is what is right in front of us now, which is buying and selling. If this young man worked in buying and selling, little by little, it would be better for him than a job. A person, through buying and selling, little by little, grows and increases until he becomes one of the wealthy, better than the employees, better than the government ministers. The merchant is better than the minister. The merchant has money and has wealth, while the poor minister has nothing except his job. Even if we take the position to its highest, say a minister, still the one who works is better than him and has more wealth.
So we direct the youth to seek provision through its many avenues. Even the Prophet ﷺ directed people toward gathering fodder and collecting firewood from the mountains, carrying the firewood, and selling it. He ﷺ directed to this. The Prophet of Allah Daawood, peace be upon him, was a king and a prophet, and along with prophethood, in spite of this, he did not eat from the treasury that he had. Rather, he worked with his hand and ate from the earning of his hand, upon him be blessings and peace. He used to make coats of armor from iron and sell them and eat from their price, and he was the Prophet of Allah, upon him be blessings and peace.
So the avenues of provision, Alhamdulillah, are many and open. But a person must fear Allah:
{And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out, and will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah’s plan will surely be carried out. Allah has already set for everything a measure}
[Surah At-Talaaq: 2-3]
This is a promise, because whoever fears Him, then Allah provides for him from where he does not expect. And taqwa, there is no doubt that it is among the greatest of means for seeking provision. Fearing Allah is the greatest of the means for seeking provision.
Al-Haafith Ibn AbdulBarr (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would only praise someone with truthfulness, and they would not commend anyone except with the truth, not for anything of the fleeting gains of this world, whether out of desire, or partisanship, or to please others.”

It is authentically reported from the Taabiee, the Imam Aamir ibn Sharaaheel Ash-Sha’bee (21-103 AH), that he said:
“Love the household of your Prophet but do not be a Raafidee (those who went to extremes and became Shias),
and act by the Quran but do not be a Harooree (those who went to extremes in accusing the Sahaabah of abandoning the Quran and fought against them),
and know that whatever good befalls you is from Allah and whatever evil befalls you is from yourself, so do not be a Qadaree (a denier of the qadar),
and obey the leader even if he is an Abyssinian slave. (someone you never would have expected to become a ruler over you)”
Shaykh Mohammad AlAnjari commented:
Imam Ash-Shabee, in these brief words, reaches deep in tracing the root of deviation and is precise in uncovering its origins before it takes shape in statements and actions.
An additional benefit:
Ash-Shabee saw Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allah be pleased with him), prayed behind him, and took knowledge from a group of the senior Companions.
👉This Is Better For You Than a Servant
Ali, may Allah be pleased with him and all the Sahaabah, said:
Fatimah (the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and wife of Ali) complained about what her hand experienced from grinding the hand mill, so she went to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him for a servant, but she did not find him ﷺ , but she met Aaishah, so she informed Aaishah of her problem.
When the Prophet ﷺ came, Aaishah informed him of Fatimah’s coming to her.
So the Prophet ﷺ came to us (Ali & Fatimah) while we had already taken to our beds, so we started to get up, but the Prophet ﷺ said: ((Stay in your places.))
So he sat between us until I felt the coolness of his foot on my chest, then he ﷺ said:
((Shall I not teach you something better than what you asked for? When you take to your beds at night, say Subhaan-Allah thirty-three times, say Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and say Allahu Akbar thirty-four times; that is better for you than a servant.))
Ali said after narrating this: “I have not left it off since I heard it from the Prophet ﷺ.”
It was said to Ali: “Not even on the night of (the battle of) Siffeen?”
He said: “Not even on the night of Siffeen.”

Shaykh Ibn Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him said:
“This indicates that the believer should have work to do, and that he should beware of laziness and stay away from laziness, for there is no good in laziness.”
=====
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him said:
“((That is better for you than a servant)) - this means that it helps a person with the chores of the house and strengthens them.”

So anything that you would normally need a servant for, hopefully this thikr will help you not need one - maybe that is physically, mentally, or however Allah may want to aid you…
And Allah knows best
The Prophet ﷺ said:
(({Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of daybreak} [Surah Al-Falaq]
And {Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind} [Surah An-Naas]
The people have not sought refuge with anything better than these two.))

📚 مؤلفات الشيخ محمد بن عبد الوهاب رحمه الله تعالى - القسم الخامس - الرسائل الشخصية
The words of our Shaykh Ahmad As-Subayee, may Allah preserve him, are a clear and shining statement and a deep exploration into exposing the condition of one who wears the garment of religion to support himself and seek his own gain.
Shaykh Ahmad As-Subayee, may Allah preserve him, said:
“The Prophet ﷺ is the one who exposed those who trade in religion with their words, and who use it as a fine garment that hides the diseases of the heart, and even as a hateful sword turned against the necks of the believers.
This is the clear and true picture of the people of division and innovation. This treacherous, filthy, and ugly example, whose inner self refuses to bow down in enslavement to Allah, accept what He has decreed, and be content with His religion and what He does among His creation, is exactly what makes the meaning of true and deep purification of the soul clear to us. This purification comes through faith and righteous deeds that match the natural human disposition, through submission and contentment, far away from the rage of the ego and its anger, and its search for its own gain and the status it has been denied by divine decree. So it rises up in the name of religion to get what it wants, causing the calm and settled slaves of Allah, such as Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, to suffer some of its burning rage and anger.
Purification of the soul is not a fake outward appearance, nor is it forced humility, nor is it the tears of a heart full of spite and anger at its own situation, a heart more attached to loving itself than to loving its religion and being humble before its Lord.”
Shaykh Mohammad Al-Anjari, may Allah preserve him, said:
“When the ego is unable to accept the decree of Allah the Most High, what He has given out, and His wisdom, it puts on the cloak of religion and performs acts of worship in its name, not to worship Allah, but to get its own share, or out of envy toward those whom Allah has given more than it, just as the Khawarij did.”
