Here is what a tax like this does:
1) It excites people with zero agency and infinite envy. Beware of these people.
2) It will keep middle class people firmly in the middle class with no real chance of getting wealthy if they stay in Washington State. It should be clear that this IS the strategy. Learned helplessness of the electorate will keep Washington State’s current elected officials in office.
3) It will never allow the upwardly mobile of building any assets or real wealth unless they move.
Capping the American Dream is a dystopian and malevolent scheme. It cannot be a valid strategy.
But unless droves of middle and upper middle class people leave Washington State, this strategy will win.
Ye gods, please someone tell Biden you can’t tax yourself out of national debt while killing the GDP with war spending and bank bailouts — not to mention stifled innovation.
We can only dig ourselves out of our catastrophic debt by investing our public spending only in areas that boost GDP — daycare, health, infrastructure, small business support, addiction recovery, etc. That way you boost tax revenue by boosting the economy, rather than boosting taxes and starving the economy.
Taxing unrealized gains is utterly absurd. Stock can plummet before you ever sell it and you still have to pay taxes on what you would have made if you sold it earlier. Same goes for the terrible changes to the tax code for amortization of the ability to write off R&D costs that kick in this year to pay for Trump’s 2017 tax cut.
The so-called “Tik Tok ban” is actually a Trojan Horse that could allow the President to ban any website or app merely by asserting that it is “controlled or guided” by a foreign adversary.
EARLY SPRING: Punxsutawney Phil, — perhaps the world's most famous groundhog — has woken up on Friday and not seen his shadow meaning, according to legend, that we are destined for an early spring. https://t.co/hGU5vFyDAZ
The New Establishment:
- Pro-war in Ukraine
- Fine with political opponents getting arrested
- Anti-free speech
- Refusal to debate those who disagree
- Bought & paid for by Super PACs
- Pretends to be anti-establishment
Make no mistake, it’s a bipartisan affair.
If anyone is struggling with whether they trust that Vivek is who he says he is, check him out at 18 years old.
Same infectious hope for the future. Same belief that hard work creates opportunity. Same explanation of his faith, and his understanding and reverence for Christianity.
The guy is as genuine and impressive as they come.
