A beautiful cicada found in the Ramos collection this morning. The species, Polyneura ducalis Westwood, 1840, is found in China, Tibet, Indonesia, Burma, Nepal, India and likely other nations in southeast Asia. Unfortunately I have been unable to locality on the label.

Arrived in the mail last Friday. 336 specimens representing 15 species, 7 of which are new for the collection.

Hyppa contrasta, cont. It is known from the Pacific Northwest across Canada into the Maritime Provinces and then disjunct distribution records from the Southern Appalachian Mountains. northwest portion of North Carolina.

A recent donation of noctuid moths included specimens of the species, Hyppa contrasta McDunnough 1946, which the collection had no previous specimens of. This species has an interesting, but not unheard of distribution.
