We were able to get a few action shots of Sir Plows-A-Lot this treating and clearing. While the sun is out and roads may look just wet, there are still quite a few areas of compact snow and ice. Temperatures won't be warming for a few days so make sure to drive for conditions.
An amazing action shot of our crew clearing Blewett Pass this morning whilst a couple of drivers are reminded about traction tire requirements.
We appreciate our WSP partners working with us to keep roads safe. Please do your part and follow the law. @wspd6pio
Seeing plenty of snow on the passes and our crews are working hard to keep up. Help them out by slowing down, following traction requirements, giving them plenty of room and being prepared for possible delays. #wawx
Good morning. A lovely early-morning vista on US 2 Stevens Pass, where @WSDOT_East has finished avalanche control and the highway is open. Plenty of snow on the passes this morning so please be prepared in cautious and let's have a safe Wednesday.
We call this "snowblower therapy." Stressed out? Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Lose yourself for a bit in the hypnotic pattern of flying snow. Thanks to our workers on US 2 Stevens Pass for clearing the shoulder and providing us a bit of calm reflection.
Behind the scenes on Stevens Pass where a contractor has been removing dead/diseased trees along the highway.
We will be on US 97 Blewett Pass next week Mon-Thurs, 6AM-5PM doing the same work. It'll require 30 minute delays to drop trees and clear the road. Please plan ahead!
Doing what we can to keep the passes open - here's a look at US 2 Stevens Pass - but heavy snowfall is forecast. Be ready for delays or closures. We try to give notice but sometimes it can be short notice. Follow @wsdot_passes, @SnoqualmiePass & @WSDOT_East.
Our crew got this shot of an avalanche Tuesday that covered the old railroad show shed & came across part of the Iron Goat Trail near US 2. These slides are a good reminder of the possible hazards so do your homework before going out to enjoy the snow in the back country.
Monday begins two weeks of chipseal work on US 97 Blewett Pass. Work is Mon-Thurs from 4 am to 4 pm, and will require flagger controlled traffic with pilot car and reduced speed through the work zone. Expect significant delays during work hours.

Sunshine and warm temperatures mean our paving crews are out working hard. If you are traveling up on Blewett Pass/US 97 today, make sure to use caution, slow down and move over a lane when possible to give our crews plenty of space to pave safely. We all want to go home safely.
Day long closures (8am-5pm) on US 97A continue between SR 971/Navarre Coulee and Entiat, and the emergency closure remains in place at Knapps Hill tunnel.
US 97 on the east side is the recommended route between Chelan and Wenatchee.
An amazing glimpse of our resident big horn sheep on US 97A near Knapps Tunnel earlier this week but not a great example of following the rules of the road!
Beep beep, sheeps, move over!
Meanwhile, up on US 2 #StevensPass. ...Our crews have been busy with slides & avalanche control. Here's a sped-up look at clearing work after avalanche control earlier this week. Watch it with the Benny Hill theme song in your head, it adds to the enjoyment.
A reminder that US 2 #StevensPass is CLOSED for avalanche control. Usually takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on how much debris comes down. Follow @WSDOT_East and @wsdot_passes for updates.
