Using the same cues in the weight room and out on the track can help athletes connect and cement ideas.
If I yell "push" or "drive" it should have the same meaning in either spot and the athlete needs to understand that.
Emotional intelligence is important. Full-stop.
-Has more to do with happiness and wellbeing than any of the stuff I learned at school.
-Increasingly becoming a competitive advantage as robots and algorithms do more of the "hard" stuff.https://t.co/W9r5Pvv0z7
The Lions came out with a big win over Hoban on Saturday winning 3-2. Marina Hess, Frankie Forte, and Erica Leinweber were the ones that scored! Keep up the great work ladies🦁🔚🔛🔝
In the sports world, we spend too much time segmenting off different characteristics of performance instead of addressing them as a whole
Psychology, Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Cognitive. The body doesn't distinguish, they all interact and play a role.
Whenever I’m working with an athlete on any mental skill (I.e. toughness, motivation, etc.) I follow three steps:
1. Identify and understand how they see the skill.
2. Conceptualize the skill and connect it to what they do.
3. Integrate into the sport or activity itself.
Music leads the way! Performance chairs for the Band Room are the first new pieces of furniture to arrive at NDCL. In the next month, nearly every piece of classroom furniture throughout our building will be replaced. New furniture will be contemporary, comfortable, and flexible.
