If Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation was warranted, it should have happened on Day 1 or at the very least, after the re-examination. That would have signalled accountability, sincerity and a government willing to take responsibility.
Now, as @rahulroushan rightly pointed out, the optics are far worse. It gives the impression that the government acted only after violence and unrest.
That's a message no government should want to send
