SARS Auto-Assessments and REFUNDS

If you are working and no taxes are deducted from your salary/payslip, there is no need to file any returns or expect refunds. You can only get back from SARS what you overpaid.

Everyone who is supposed to pay taxes, pays. If they want R500 from you and your employer paid R500 to them, there is no refund. If you paid R600, they will refund R100. If you paid R400, you owe them R100.
