I missed my flight in Nairobi once because of traffic on Mombasa Road.
Like fully missed it. I got to the airport sweaty, exhausted, dragging my suitcase like it personally betrayed me.
I already knew there was no chance, but I still ran to the counter hoping for mercy.
The woman checked her screen, looked at me, then said, “You were the last passenger.”
I laughed a little because what else do you do at that point?
Then she lowered her voice and said, “The plane is still on the ground.”
Next thing I know this airport employee is SPEED WALKING me through the terminal like we’re in an action movie.
Security waved me through, another worker grabbed my carry-on to help me run, and I’m apologizing to literally everyone while fighting for my life.
I got to the gate completely out of breath.
The guy scanning boarding passes looked at me and said, “Eh, Nairobi traffic. We understand.”
People on the plane actually clapped when I walked in looking half dead.
I have never respected airport workers more in my life. Big up to them.

James Mugoya Isabirye is a Ugandan Tycoon Who Built Times Tower, NSSF Building, Kabarak University & Moi High School-Kabarak. He also constructed Mombasa road and had a site at machakos junction. James Mugoya is an engineer and a billionaire businessman.

He is the founder and owner of the famous Mugoya Construction & Engineering Limited, behind the construction of some of the most iconic projects in Kenya.

Mugoya was one of the most politically-connected contractors in Kenya and bagged several development projects during the reign of late Mzee moi. The iconic Times Towers and the NSSF Embakasi housing projects are some of the notable projects undertaken by the company.

Mugoya was born in 1950 in Eastern Uganda. He attended Uganda’s Bulyansime Primary before joining Iganga Boys. He then proceeded to King’s College Budo before later joining the University of Nairobi where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil engineering.

He graduated on October 26, 1971 at a ceremony witnessed by President Jomo Kenyatta. He was registered as Abiam JM Isabirye in a class that had 46 students. During his time at UoN, Mugoya is said to have forged a great friendship with one of Mzee Moi’s sons.

Immediately after graduation, he founded Mugoya Construction & Engineering Limited and almost immediately, he landed the deals to build the NSSF building and Hazina Estate. In 1992, Mugoya landed a tender to construct the 40-storey Times Tower building which was the tallest at the time.

The project was financed by the Central bank of Kenya (CBK) and the state. He also built Moi High School, Kabarak, Kabarak University and the Kisumu Provincial Headquarters.

In 1995, NSSF awarded Mugoya a contract to construct 265 houses in Karen, together with an administration block, a club house and a kindergarten. However, the project failed to start due to pending approvals from Nairobi City Council.

Mugoya was paid Ksh342 million in 2012 as an out-of-court settlement for the very project after he had initially claimed Ksh633 million. He wanted to buy a small town in Eastern Uganda called Busembatya.

He wanted to develop it into a city but Museveni refused. Mugoya was once arrested and charged in Nairobi for defrauding kcb hundreds of millions. Those who indulge in kazi ya mjengo say No construction company pays fundis better like Mugoya.

ODM fear Edwin Sifuna. That is why they went for Osotsi and not him. The ODM Linda Ground brigade really hyped their NDC like something big was coming. People were waiting for that one major announcement that Edwin Sifuna has been officially replaced as Secretary General. The stage was set, the expectation was clear.

But when the time came, Instead of facing Sifuna, they went for Godfrey Osotsi and removed him as Deputy Party Leader. Sifuna remained untouched. That’s when it hit everyone these people can make noise, but when it comes to the real decision, they step back.

Look at it like a school. Sifuna and Osotsi are two students who have the same indiscipline case, They insult the teacher, jump the fence, disappear for a week. When they return, you expect equal punishment. But the teacher expels Osotsi immediately the “average student.” Then turns to Sifuna the “bright, influential one”and lets him stay. Not because he is better, but because he is too big to handle. The school fears losing him more than disciplining him.

That is exactly what ODM showed today. Osotsi was the easy target. Sifuna is the hot porridge they cannot touch. They know he is untouchable, and they don’t have the courage to deal with him directly.

Remember Winnie Odinga’s speech today. She came out talking about reconciliation, unity, and embracing each other. That was not random. That was a well-crafted message. It was meant to cool the tension and quietly open the door for Oburu to try and bring Sifuna back.

So in the end, nothing was really solved today. ODM avoided the hard decision of officially kicking Sifuna out through their hyped SDC. And whether they admit it or not, the message is already clear, Sifuna is untouchable, and they are not ready to face him.
