The biggest skill you can develop is the ability to reset fast.
Bad conversation? Move on.
Bad day? Start fresh tomorrow.
Missed workout? Hit it the next day.
Poor decision? Learn and adjust.
You can't control what happens to you, but you control how long you let it affect you.
I actually respect people who can say “I used to think this but I don’t anymore.” that takes more self awareness than pretending you’ve always been right.
One thing I've realized is that, you don't need to vent to your friends about everything that you're going through. Sometimes it's okay to just pray about it and move on. Let it be between you and God.
Clarity does not always come from thinking harder. It comes from removing what is clouding it. Less noise, less obligation, less of what was never yours to carry.
Your first attempt might not be very good, but nobody's early work is good. There will always be a gap between where you are and where you want to be. And the bridge between that gap is courage. The courage to look foolish in the beginning. The courage to show up again when your early work is criticized. The courage to look yourself in the mirror and say, "I realize I'm not good enough yet, but the only way to get better is to keep working on it."
There’s absolutely nothing more pleasing than watching yourself do the things you said you’d do. I really value honoring the promises I’ve made to myself.
