I truly cannot imagine being this smug after abandoning the city you were mayor of while unsuccessfully running for governor and then leaving the city with a $250 million budget deficit

[John Heinis @HeinisHardNews]

.@JoelBrooks4JC: "We are governing under Mayor Solomon’s administration, but in a reality and structure, left to us by Mayor Fulop and our predecessor council. I don’t fault my predecessors. I’ve seen Fulop obfuscate, bully, and outright lie to achieve what he wanted."

[David Cruz @DavidCruzNJ]

Here's the latest @AskTheMayorJC. Obv. lots on the budget, but also other stuff, from public safety to mass transit to control of the school system (and its budget). Thanks for the emails. More calls next time. @DavidCruzNJ Watch and share your thoughts. https://t.co/TnCugh5JuW

My thoughts on the upcoming Jersey City Board of Education vote on the Superintendent's contract.

The Resident Response Center (RRC) are the problem-solvers of Jersey City government. This year, they're resolving work orders & resident complaints at a much faster rate than last year in every Ward--doing more with less as we address our budget crisis and deliver for residents.

Mayor Solomon’s budget cuts spending in 10 of 13 departments and reduces costs by $58 million compared to last year.

Blown away. Turns out Steve Fulop ran Jersey City into the ground financially. Boy did he do a good job of tricking people.

He's now the President of the Partnership for New York City, a business advocacy group.

Third time's a charm! Happy 4th of July from Jersey City!

Steve Fulop is now President & CEO Partnership for NYC.
Not such a bright move on the part of the Board.

[David Cruz @DavidCruzNJ]

"Steve Fulop had left that city in $250 million in debt. It was almost insurmountable."

We are grateful to Gov. Sherrill for recognizing the depth of the financial crisis Jersey City was left in, and working with Jersey City to secure the largest aid package in NJ history.

[Nathaniel Styer @necs]

@IvanOvalle19 @eaconner @c_omargt We agree. Again - we will not use that sort of thing to plug operating cost holes. It’s how we got here.

[Nathaniel Styer @necs]

@IvanOvalle19 @eaconner @c_omargt Exactly what we’re looking at. We want to make sure we use that one time money to pay for one time expenses. This deficit was built selling property and using that money on healthcare costs (33M in property was used last year to pay health care costs. Those costs don’t go away)
