Medication shortages escalating.
No dissolvable prednesol available for managing asthma and wheeze exaccerbations. Betnesol unlicensed, so costly + also not easily available.
No Lyclear for scabies.
Problems with steroid creams, antibiotics + much more
@CcoHse@SimonHarrisTD
This is the notification GPs have received. It might help if the Hse could advise where we actually should refer our cardiology patients?!?
Another anonymous missive from the HSE without a care for the patients or GPs
@HSELive@BernardGloster @DonnellyStephen
Pat Kenny @newtalkfm described out of hours GPs yesterday as “guns for hire”+ his veterinary clinic is open 8 to 8 and weekends. GP OOH are open 6pm to 8am M to F , 24/7 at w/e’s and B hols. it’s local @ICGPnews GPs providing the services 365 days a year on top of their day job
@ShinnersCro @Eastcorkclinsoc@DrWilliamBehan@Deccotwit2twit1 We used to do that many moons ago in @nedocGP & for the first 10 years of its existence. It was a far superior service & much more satisfying for all concerned. It was sacrificed on the alter of @HSELive ‘efficiency’ during the financial crash. I kid you not.
@HSELive Free AT POINT OF CARE!
These are the ANNUAL fees your GP Practice will get for providing 24/7 care for UNLIMITED appointments.
And we also PAY (5k) and WORK(200h) in OOH for the pleasure.
This is called capitation and with this fee we pay for ALL running costs of practice.
When U6 free GP scheme was introduced, contacts & GP consultations of U6s to NEDOC increased by 30% immediately. Same number of GPs now as then - who will see all these patients? Implementing this without adequate GP clinical resources will be detrimental to GP day & OOH.
After a frustrating day dealing with medical issues that should have been managed elsewhere i needed some light relief!
So here's to all the GPs who are wondering how we can make our non-GP colleagues understand that we are REALLY busy + that its not our job to do their referrals
1900+ GPs heard how this government plans to collapse general practice on @IMO_IRL webinar.
10%of the population have no GP.
HSE answer is to forcibly assign patients onto full gp lists
Plans to introduce 400,000 Dr visit cards will end same day access +lead to early retirements
I genuinely lament that over so many decades, with multiple “reports” highlighting the problems and detailing the solutions, and so many “plans” and “promises” made by politicians and @HSELive, that here we are. Nothing has changed. Getting worse. @DonnellyStephen @LeoVaradkar.
HUGE news for Navan this morning as the Cabinet has just approved the long awaited Navan rail project.
This is transformative for Navan and way overdue.
Alert went out today from college about an upcoming recruitment event for medical students to work in Canada once qualified... Ding ding ding @DonnellyStephen, the time for actual intervention is now!
