@TheRealXMoney @KTLA Depends how prepared you are for something like this. Pipelines work all across the world. Insulate them, heat them, do whatever you need to do to keep them working and they'll work at very low temperatures.
@S_morales77@jasongeisenheim@perdigonman@devlin_arlo1389@tedcruz Batteries had issues because they were out in the cold weather.
The problem with your post is you fail to acknowledge nothing worked right, not just green energy. Wind was the closest to working right. There are multiple things TX could have done to prevent this.
@S_morales77@jasongeisenheim@perdigonman@devlin_arlo1389@tedcruz Everything died.
They were predicting more power from gas but couldn't get it due to cold temperature.
A nuclear power plant wouldn't run because a safety device failed due to cold weather.
They got the power they were expecting from wind but could have gotten more.
@PRISMPodcast1 @NextGenPlayer The monster hunter is a great series, but honestly it's a series that doesn't change a whole lot from game to game. World was kind of special but GOTY worthy? IMO, no.
@Imapwr1@NextGenPlayer GOTY should be a game that is something special, something unique, and something great. If we go by player base then COD would win GOTY almost every year. It doesn't have to be a game everyone plays, but something everyone should want to play within reason.
@MarcusSammons3 @shouisdreaming @MrSnarkyPants @MichelleSumpt11@ElectionBabe@B52Malmet The simple real fact is that overall windmills produce as much power as they were expected to, some estimates even say more than expected. Texas wasn't prepared for the cold weather in the majority of it's power generation methods though.
@MarcusSammons3 @shouisdreaming @MrSnarkyPants @MichelleSumpt11@ElectionBabe@B52Malmet Over the winter they produce less, It's closer to 10%. Windmills work fine in cold places like Canada during the winter. Nuclear and Gas also failed, due to cold weather. Gas lines couldn't put enough gas out because of cold and safety devices iced up and shut down reactors.
@1971Kiyomizu@allinwithchris@AOC@chrislhayes Also when looking at that chart keep in mind, Wind produces less power during the winter and they plan on it. more like 10% of their power output. All forms of power failed for the same reason, cold weather and ice. Gas and nuclear both failed.
@RepDanCrenshaw Of course, there are also the reports that are coming in that are saying windmills in Texas were producing more energy than companies were planning on meaning that the majority of the problem relates to problems with gas and nuclear due to non-winterized equipment.
@RepDanCrenshaw AKA Texas was not ready for a once every 10 year event because they didn't want to spend money preparing for a disaster. There is nothing wrong with green energy, only things wrong when you don't plan for natural disasters.
@BiderJohanna @j40747861@KatieJohnson214 Then compare an unarmed person getting shot breaking into the capitol building where many likely had intent to kill to an unarmed person who got shot for just running away from police in the street or in some cases just being too close to an overprotective cop.
@BiderJohanna @j40747861@KatieJohnson214 It's sad most republicans would be extremely supportive of a person who shot someone for walking into their house uninvited. Yet they'll make a big fuss about someone being shot for participating in insurrection and getting shot for breaking into an area where lawmakers are.
@StephanieJ_DC@allosch9@DawnBlueberry@RBReich They could then pass a censure resolution censuring Trump and calling his incitement of the riot as participation and therefore disqualify him under the 14th amendment. It MIGHT be defendable in courts. Whether it's a path that should be followed, I'm unsure.
@StephanieJ_DC@allosch9@DawnBlueberry@RBReich It's a hard one. Section 5 gives congress the power to enforce the provisions. Therefore Congress could pass a law saying anyone who participated in the Jan. 6th riots are disqualified under the 14th amendment.....
@marnen@PeachLady2015@RBReich Presumably if it's legal. I could easily see Trump bringing and winning a legal case to court about it. He'll have a lot better due process argument against something like this than he did for impeachment. His impeachment one was terrible, this one might not be.
@stop_supremacy @MaxKennerly@simon_schama@RBReich Terrified? No. Prefer him not to run be win or lose he'll be calling the election rigged? Yes. As a bonus if he runs again it's likely we'll be hearing him complain how rigged it is twice. Once during the primaries and the second time during the general if he wins the primary.
@calderonolaf@maxauerbachhh@PatDono49085107@EmmaKinery It actually kind of is. The most ever members of the president's party voted to impeach(10). Only twice has members of the president's party voted to convict(1 during Trump's first trial, 7 this trial). Even Johnson who was almost convicted by 1 vote his entire party acquitted
@swagzawa@CptSwollhouse@Joecascio2000@stoov_niss@FrogBoy868@NBCPolitics It was a very forceful speech as well. He denounced Trump's actions and his guilt in no uncertain terms and didn't hold anything back. I don't think it's hard to argue that IF Trump was still president when they voted, they would have had a 2/3rds majority.
