And for some reason, this doesn’t corroborate with any of the written sources we have from non-Muslims (Syriac, Greek, Armenian, Roman, Persian, &c.) on even a basic detail like whether Muhammad was alive during the conquest of Jerusalem in 634AD.

It confirms it in its entirety later on (2:85) and this hermeneutical principle is very much affirmed by your classical exegetes — it’s not a position without grounding, as much as you’d wish that to be the case — e.g., Al-Bukhari reports via Ibn Abbas that none can change Allah’s word and that this concept is applicable to the Torah and Injil. And it never once says that it’s confirming just parts of the Torah, that’s a forced Muslim interpolation to escape the dilemma.

No, whenever the Quran accuses tahrif (corruption), it’s invariably in the case of interpretative practices. It presupposes that the true revelation via the Torah is available to the Jews and Christians.

On whether it’s confirming the Masoretic or Septuagint version IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU GUYS.

No, it’s talking to Jews at the time of Muhammad. So which Torah is the Quran confirming? It also tells Jews to judge by the Torah between their hands (“bayna yadayhi”), and says that Jesus confirms the Torah of his time (5:43-48); it goes onto say that the people of the book have nothing to stand upon unless they observe their books (5:68); meanwhile in Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah condemns Jews for not following the entirety of the Torah (2:85); and the Quran also says that the Torah is written down with the Jews (7:157). So which Torah is the Quran confirming? If you’re fretting about the textual variance, that every Christian acknowledges btw, between the Septuagint and Masoretic version, then that problem *must* be generalisable to the Quran.

There are several theories on the authorship of the Pentateuch. It’s not an issue for us to believe in some type of supplementary hypothesis: the Torah underwent some editorial changes over the centuries from when it was first written down. Anyway, these issues aren’t a problem for Christians but they’re an issue for you since the Quran confirms the Pentateuch in the verses I just cited.

The Quran confirms the Torah with the Jews (2:41), written down with them (7:157), condemns Jews for cherrypicking parts of the Torah thereby confirming it in its entirety (2:85), it also calls the Torah Al-Furqan (Criterion), and Muhammad confirms the Torah put in front of him (“I confirm thee and who revealed thee”).
