The city of Spokane is refusing to waive demolition permit fees for fire victims. After losing EVERYTHING, victims have to pay $500 to cap the water and sewer lines under their burned out house. What the fuck is the point of paying taxes? Just like California, Washington uses taxpayer dollars to buy crackpipes and heroin needles for unemployed homeless drug zombies, but when you, the working class taxpayer, lose everything you have through no fault of your own, you still have to pay for this?

These city leaders are so fucking petty they'll still force fire victims to pay $35 for permission to demolish their own destroyed home. Why? You couldn't just waive it? For $35? Yeah, it's not a lot of money, but that actually makes it worse...forcing a fire victim to cough up a meager sum that in NO way actually funds the process in any meaningful way just shows that you are doing it out of spite. Just a nice little "fuck you" to the peasants.

Additionally, the state of Washington is forcing fire victims to pay sales tax to replace the items they lost in the fire. Again...why? The state was never factoring in that revenue...it never existed on the balance sheet BUT for the fire. Government is collecting a windfall from people's LOSSES. There's literally zero need to collect taxes on shit that people already owned.

Back during the mid 90's floods, the state legislature passed a sales tax exemption for victims replacing their stuff. If they don't do this in their next leg session, they all need to go. The one thing WA did is cut property tax on their burned out homes, which is the absolute least they could do.

You assholes never maintain your forests, everybody lost everything, their pets burned alive, and now you're going tack on an extra 9.1% to the cost of rebuilding their lives...for what? Not to mention the fact that a couch today costs probably 2x as much as when they first bought the one they just lost. I fucking hate these people, man.

He was shot three times, bled through his shirt, and the 7-Eleven still wouldn't unlock the door.

Belltown, Seattle. Matthew Lanske, 21, and his friends had just finished dinner Sunday when they ran into a street takeover. A man and two women tried to rob one of his friends at gunpoint. Lanske grabbed for the gun. He took two rounds to the stomach and a third that shattered his pelvis and hit a major artery.

He walked two blocks bleeding out, looking for anyone to help him. A 7-Eleven kept its doors locked while he begged. He sat down, texted 911 and his girlfriend, and waited.

His mother says people stood around filming him instead of calling for help.

He's had two surgeries, needs two more, and is still months from going back to work. His sister isn't asking for revenge. She's asking anyone who saw anything to come forward, and asking everyone who filmed instead of helping to feel ashamed of it.

Sometimes when God doesn’t answer our prayers as quickly as we would like Him to, we think that He’s letting us down. We need to understand that delays aren’t necessarily denials. When we pray and don’t see an answer as quickly as we would like, it may be a result of circumstances that we can’t see.

Maybe you’ve been praying for someone to come to know the Lord. Maybe you’ve been asking God to heal you. Maybe you’ve been asking the Lord to open doors of opportunity for you to serve Him. Don’t give up. Don’t be discouraged. Keep praying. Jesus said to keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking, and the door would be opened. So be persistent. And watch what God will do.

God is not looking for ability as much as He is looking for availability. You may think, “God only uses the really talented people. He will never use me. There’s not much I can offer Him.”

But God is looking for someone simply to be available and to let Him be strong on their behalf. God isn’t looking for strong people. He is looking for weak people through whom He can be strong. That means every person is qualified to be used by God.

That means God can use you.

Prayer is one of the ways we make ourselves ready for Christ’s return. Jesus said, “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is” (Mark 13:33 NKJV).

For many believers, Jesus’ return is a source of anxiety. The apocalyptic descriptions in Scripture paint a stark picture. For others, Jesus’ return is a source of impatience. They can’t wait. Prayer addresses both issues. It helps believers get in the proper mindset regarding Jesus’ return.
