Following the investigation into Mike Pilavachi & Soul Survivor. May include other church abuse cases. DM to share info or if you need a response from me.
After eighteen months of activism on the Soul Survivor situation, I am stepping away from doing anything more. I’ve written this post which explains more. I’ll be leaving this account open, but it will no longer be checked.

Hi All! @durham_uni have a research project seeking to listen to the voices and perspectives of those who were directly harmed by Mike Pilavachi. This is in response to the way none of the processes (CDM, Scolding Review etc) so far have really listened to those harmed.
I'm so pleased this piece of audio has made it into the public domain.
It demonstrates that several Christian leaders heard rumours about Mike Pilavachi years ago and, instead of raising it with safeguarding/trustees etc, they went quietly to Mike to let him know.
@davidbunce Sooooo much! And a measure which is much more interested in those gifts (unearned) than the fruits of the Spirit that are developed through the choices a person makes.
This was part of my Bible reading this morning & gets to some of the crux of what’s wrong with evangelicalism. The people in leadership haven’t been equipping God’s people, they’ve been making people dependent & denied them resources which would have equipped them.
And yes, this is in a wider context where such modes of leadership have been the norm, but the church should always have been different. And they haven’t.
And NOW these leaders remain silent and refuse to offer any leadership or guidance because it would be acknowledging their culpability and laying down much of what the leaders are now dependent on, the people’s admiration and blind following of them.
@creva This is the problem with PR apologies, they look at sound like apologies, but they don’t take any responsibility or admit any fault of the ones saying sorry.
The diocese of St Albans will take three months to decide whether or not they will issue an apology for their role in the Soul Suvrivor situation: https://t.co/5NaqjneScU.
@creva Sadly those are weasel words within the statement, they say “We deeply regret the pain and distress caused, and we offer our sincere apologies to all survivors and victims who have suffered as a result.” What the report asks them to apologise for specifically is poor oversight.
@needs_light I really like Megan (and she did stellar work) but I refused to do the podcast unless they would let me criticize the Magazine itself for its role in helping prop up and platform all these twerps.
