i have a theory that one of the reasons people love hotel rooms is that nothing in there belongs to you. no laundry, no dishes, no half-finished projects staring at you from across the room. you walk in, close the door and for a brief, beautiful moment you have absolutely no responsibilities and a wonderful pattern interrupt to come back to your SELF.
@FancottH I loved Netflix when it was an envelope and a DVD. The little ritual of dropping it in the mailbox and waiting for next two to arrive was something else:
i think streaming accidentally killed one of the best parts of movies: the ritual. deciding what to watch, getting in the car, buying the ticket, standing in line, arguing about where to sit, getting popcorn and then sitting in a dark room with 200 strangers who are all watching the exact same thing at the exact same time.
@ChristyTope1 How cool! It’s amazing you have one. My cousin refurbed his from scratch and now him and his wife take the most beautiful trips to the mountains by them. (I have been invited but it’s just not happened yet).
@flamephilosophy I personally love this take so much! Every few months I look through things I own and now I have things I enjoy or hold special memories and around for their functional value.
nothing makes you feel older than realizing you now get genuinely excited about finding a really good parking spot. (i plead guilty as charged and then some).
