NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub | 3rd Gurukul Session on Digital Economy for Viksit Bharat

NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub hosted its 3rd Gurukul Session, themed “Digital Economy for Viksit Bharat,” featuring an insightful address by Dr. Deepak Mishra, Director & Chief Executive of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). It witnessed participation from Shri Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, Shri B V R Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog, Members, Distinguished Fellows, Program Directors, and Senior officials of NITI Aayog.

The session focused on key insights from the State of India’s Digital Economy (SIDE) report, which underscores the growing significance of India’s digital sector. A key takeaway was the need to move beyond traditional global indices, which often fall short in capturing India’s unique digital progress. Instead, the report advocates for the development of new, context-specific metrics that better align with India’s evolving digital landscape.

A major contribution was the introduction of the CHIPS Framework—Connect, Harness, Innovate, Protect, Sustain—a comprehensive model for benchmarking digital development. The discussion also reflected on India’s role in the broader digital rise of the Global South and the need to deepen digital adoption across sectors.
