Don’t scroll away because you never experienced it.
Technology is baked into the fabric of our daily lives.
The higher you climb, the harder the fall. Saudi Arabia has far more to lose in its conflict with the Houthis. KSA is caught between two coices: bad and worse.
#Yemen#SaudiArabia
China made a mistake by aiding and arming the Houthis, just as the Americans did in Afghanistan by aiding and arming the Afghan mujahideen. In the long term, the world will be a worse place with weapons in the hands of Islamists.
A total arms embargo must be enforced on Yemen.
This is interesting and important. On the one hand, it is another indication that the members of the Axis of Resistance have diversified their external partnerships beyond #Iran, and that other revisionist powers, especially Russia and China, are also involved.
Chinese involvement, which has been important in the development of Iran's own military capabilities, also seems to be playing an important role in the development of Houthi capabilities now.
On the other hand, this represents a very interesting division of labor: key components come from China, technology comes from Iran, and the missiles are then built in Yemen. This can make detection, interception, and confiscation more difficult.
But it also says something about the changing pattern of Iran's security assistance. For a long time, Iran was quite selective in exporting its military technology to different partners. Hezbollah occupied a central position in Iranian strategy and always received the most advanced technology.
Now, however, this is another indication that the Houthis have, to some extent, replaced Hezbollah in terms of their importance to Iran, to the point that Tehran is now exporting some of its most advanced capabilities to the Houthis.
The United states was not successful in eliminating the Islamic Republic, but it certainly did a great deal to further radicalize it and paralyze its decision-making process.
The internal balance of power in Iran has shifted toward the militarists. Moderate principalists have been sidelined, and nothing sustains a military regime better than a credible threat of war.
The incentives for war—for both Iran and Israel—are stronger than the incentives 👇
Tehran Sees Growing Risk of a New War with the United States
🔹There are growing signs that Tehran views a new war as inevitable – and potentially imminent.
🔹Fars News Agency, affiliated with the IRGC, reports that, on several occasions in recent days, the United States appeared prepared to launch renewed attacks against Iran, with U.S. fighter jets taking off over the southern Persian Gulf, although no attack ultimately took place.
🔹According to the agency, reports emerged on September 25 of a high level of U.S. military activity, including the presence of a reconnaissance aircraft near Qeshm Island.
🔹Fars believes that “the enemy’s objective in pursuing this pattern is to normalize such activities so that it can carry out the main operation at a moment when it is least expected” – in other words, to restore the element of surprise.
🔹At the same time, the IRGC has issued an official statement warning that “any miscalculation or attempt to launch a new war or aggression against Islamic Iran will bring a painful and devastating response against the aggressor.”
🔹This follows a series of assessments and warnings by Islamic Republic officials in recent days. Last Tuesday, for example, Mohammad Akraminia, spokesperson for the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, said that “the Americans are repositioning forces and undertaking various activities in the region,” adding that Iran’s military forces are prepared for another confrontation.
🔹More importantly, however, he stated: “If we conclude that the enemy is preparing an imminent attack, we will certainly engage in preemptive warfare or conduct a preemptive operation.”
🔹The emphasis on “preemption” has increasingly entered the vocabulary of Iranian military officials since the 40-day war. In fact, regardless of whether U.S. military movements in the region genuinely represent preparations for a new war, the evolution of Iranian military thinking and the emergence of a “preemptive” element could lead Tehran to take military action in an effort to prevent what it perceives as an imminent attack – potentially igniting a new war.
🔹At the same time, confirmed reports indicate that Iran has once again intensified its attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz over the past week.
🔹With diplomatic progress stalled and no indication that either side is willing to compromise on its core demands, the risk of a return to war is increasing with each passing day.
for diplomacy. Even if an MOU or some other agreement is reached, its implementation would require broad consensus within Iran, and that consensus does not exist. 👇
3. I fully support Dr. Sato and condemn the personal and professional attacks targeting her, as well as the gender-based discrimination directed against her.
1. Dr. Sato has been under attack for pointing out the disproportionate violations of Iranian minorities’ fundamental rights. Discrimination has affected the severity of punishment and further compounded the injustice.

For Kurds, Baluch, Ahwazi Arabs, Azerbaijani Turks and Turkmen, discrimination extends from restrictions on language rights to ethnic stereotyping in State media. Economic marginalization, land confiscation and environmental degradation have further deepened poverty in many minority regions. Many Baluch are denied a shenasnameh (identity booklet), limiting access to education, healthcare and formal employment. Kurdish kolbars and Baluch sukhtbars often rely on cross-border transport of goods and fuel for their livelihoods. Environmental mismanagement has displaced communities across minority regions, including Kurdish, Arab, Baluch, Turkmen and Gilak areas, while Azerbaijani Turks continue to experience the consequences of environmental degradation around Lake Urmia. Religious minorities face similar forms of exclusion. Baha'is are effectively barred from higher education and public employment and, like Christian converts, have long been portrayed as security threats. Sunni Muslims and Yarsan remain excluded from public office.
This broader context is essential to understanding death penalty cases involving minorities. Discrimination does not end at the gates of the criminal justice system; it can affect arrest, detention, trial and sentencing, including in capital cases.
Ethnic minorities facing capital charges often encounter additional barriers to a fair trial, including inadequate interpretation during interrogations and court proceedings, allegations of torture and other ill-treatment aimed at extracting confessions, and prosecutions on national security charges often unsupported by credible evidence.
The case of Farhad Baranzehi, a young Baluch man, reportedly sentenced to death for baghy without a lawyer present, raises concerns regarding allegations of torture and other serious fair trial violations. Hatem Özdemir, a Turkish national of Kurdish ethnicity, was reportedly denied interpretation during critical stages of proceedings that resulted in a death sentence for baghy. Yousef Ahmadi, a Kurdish man from Baneh, has alleged extremely violent torture and denial of medical care following his arrest. Similar concerns have been reported in the cases of Rauf Sheikh-Maroufi, Mohammad Faraji and Mohsen Eslamkhah, three Kurdish men sentenced to death in connection with the Woman, Life, Freedom protests. At the time of writing, none of these death sentences has been carried out, and the individuals concerned remain at imminent risk of executions.
Documented patterns of ethnic and religious discrimination, combined with recurring allegations of torture, coerced confessions and fair trial violations in individual cases, raise serious concerns about the application of the death penalty to minority groups in Iran. Capital cases already warrant the most exacting scrutiny under international human rights law. These factors demand compelling grounds for particularly rigorous scrutiny of capital cases involving members of ethnic and religious minorities.

2. Addressing systemic and cumulative discrimination does not amount to supporting “separatism,” as some have accused her of doing. Dr. Sato’s mandate has been necessary, and her professionalism and impactful reporting are needed more than ever.

@drmaisato Dear Dr. Sato,
The situation regarding LGBTQIA+ rights is also dire, encompassing discrimination, abuse, torture, imprisonment, violence in prison, and other extensive forms of ill-treatment and abuse. These issues also warrant inclusion in your statements.

@BBCArdalan@yarbatman
It's important for all my media colleagues who attended the press conference to be aware the instigator of these smearing and false attacks was Iran International television outlet. Be aware if and when you deal with them.
Dear Farnaz
The hardship of jorrnalism as a women and Iranians roots I can imagine how much discrimination and attacks you endure.
I wanted to say that I wish you the best in this trying times.
