@RahulSinha112 @UNCDFdigital In years of field work have personally spoken to several women borrowers only to find out that their husbands utilised the loans.
@OgbaUloma @UNCDFdigital @RahulSinha112 Absolutely. The time a woman can contribute towards economic activities is finite to begin with and not often out of her choice.
Gender disaggregated data can be a 1 such first step. We often undermine the power of data in intervention design. #CFH is working in Odisha using a data driven approach and designing interventions along with the private sector that cater to the needs and ground realities of SHGs
A3. Field work insight: women are active partners in the economic activities undertaken in the HH esp in rural HH.
Yet income generated usually goes in the hand of the man. Limiting woman’s agency, taking away her control and the freedom to decide how and where it should be used.
A2. Some of the ways social norms restrict economic opportunities are :-
1.Access- eg: Restrictions on opportunity to work
2.Agency- eg: using the income earned as per the woman’s choice
3.Inequality- eg: Pay gap, delayed Career growth
A2. Biases in structures, policies accompanied by sub-conscious biases lead inequality in both access and availability of economic opportunities.

A1. 1/3 A recent @CGAP study in #Turkey revealed some of the social norms that limit women's full participation at home and at work. Check out the study here: https://t.co/E0P5pUv2rs #FHchat
A1. Normative biases restrict the ability of women to achieve their own economic, social and educational empowerment.
Sub-conscious biases and preconceived notions about a woman’s ability restrict the opportunities available to her at work. #fhchat
A lot of COVID deaths in India in young people who should be doing well & recovering.
I am making a plea to doctors in India to cut down the use of STEROIDS. Please.
Steroids are only useful after the patient is hypoxic. Harmful if given early, or given for too long
For more than a year, I & a group of concerned Canadians @masks4canada have been (virtually) screaming that #COVIDisAirborne. It's been a year full of pushback from govt agencies, threats sent to our group and to individuals. But we finally have validation from #WHO. #WearAMask
@singhsk5 The least people-men and women can do is to acknowledge that not only there have been systemic disparities for centuries but also sub-conscious biases. These biases cannot be conspicuously seen but lead to inequality in opportunities at every single step. #GenderEquality
Time to shatter damn every #glassceiling#womensupportingwomen
