@JonBurley3 I love the Defoe piece. Xenophobia can of course be deeply nasty, but xenophobes are probably more worried by being made to look silly than by being criticised for their nastiness.
BBC asks "What does it mean to be English?"
"Indepth", it assures us. Really?
Counter-questions: What's the motive behind that question? Who's asking? Who cares? Why?
Beware flag-themed debates. They may be stoked by shit-stirrers and clickbaiters.

@KevinDarli9791 The siege on parenthood is particularly flagrant among genderist extremists. But it's part of a much bigger and scandalously naive ideological movement which lazily and callously casts suspicion on anyone linked to power, structure, normality, or success.
Sometimes, parents may have lost custody simply for standing up to "trans" ideology, but sometimes other more legitimate reasons may be involved.
Still crucial to notice that genderism is strongly linked to a longterm siege against parental authority.

Are films like "Knives Out" really being used to foster systemic "anti-White" prejudice? Troubling idea.
But this example is unconvincing. No-one who hadn't been indoctrinated in USA's bizarre "race" classifications would think of this heroine as "non-White", would they?
Cambridge published a meta-analysis last year on the persuasiveness of 'narrative entertainment (TV, film, etc).
The results showed it was particularly effective for reducing out-group stigma/prejudice, thus making it an extremely potent instrument for anti-White propaganda.
This is why you have orgs like the Norman Lear Center's 'Hollywood, Health & Society' program consulting with producers to 'normalise behaviours' regarding not only health, but race. You can find documents on 'Systemic Racism' and the 'History of Whiteness' on their website.
Hollywood uses common themes and allegories in order to inculcate subversive behaviours into Western audiences. One recurring trope is the 'Birthright' sacrifice, in which a White character (often representing Western patrimony) redeems themselves by relinquishing status, property, or their lives to a non-White racial other. This act is framed as a kind of moral ascendency - @WSdagg has done several brilliant video essays on this topic.
One of the most explicit examples is the film Knives Out (2019). Harlan Thrombey, a wealthy White novelist, slits his throat to protect his kind Ecuadorian anchor-baby nurse. He rewrites his will, leaving his estate and publishing empire to her instead of his own family. His disgruntled family are depicted as greedy, vulgar, and backstabbing, while the nurse is selfless and morally incorruptible (she literally cannot lie without vomiting). In the denouement, the most detestable family member delivers the following monologue...
The intention of the film is obvious: White people (and by extension, White societies) achieve redemption by sacrificing themselves and their inheritance for outsiders, while anyone who resists this civilisational transfer is a villain.
This perverse morality has been deliberately seeded into the minds of millions of White people for decades.
This looks like a clear example of the processes whereby under the guise of "anti-racism", flagrant racism becomes institutionalised.
No excuse for UK importing these variants of racism from USA, Middle East, or anywhere.
Andrew Gilligan asks why an organisation like the National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP) is allowed to be anywhere near the profession of law enforcement.
NAMP has branded Zionism “one of the manifestations of anti-Muslim hatred, stripping Muslims of their humanity”.
These inflammatory claims were made in a NAMP policy paper on “confronting anti-Muslim hatred”, which also described the Israel Defense Forces as a “Zionist terrorist group”.
The organisation is affiliated with at least 16 of Britain’s 43 police forces and has a formal national role within policing. It has also received praise from the College of Policing.
NAMP works with the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), including through workshops and presentations to the NPCC’s counter-terrorism advisory group. It has called for the term “Islamist terrorism” to be abandoned, arguing that “its use by the police contributes to faith hate crime”.
As Gilligan notes, this is despite the fact that, since 1999, 94 per cent of terrorist deaths in Britain have been caused by Islamists.
Policy Exchange’s David Spencer has argued that a central element of the crisis consuming British policing is the diversion of officers from their core task: keeping the public safe, preventing crime and catching criminals. NAMP and its agenda are a clear example of that distraction.

@genspect@SenSanders Another crucial point: when chemicals are used in "medically unnecessary ways", it is dangerously misleading to call them "medications" - no matter what age the recipient may be.
Similarly, medically unnecessary body mutilation should never be called "surgery".
Bernie Sanders wishing a problem away. Whether you call it "surgery", "medical transition", or "medically unnecessary mutilation", it is wrong to do this to a child.
Whether it has happened to thousands or a few dozen, it is child abuse. Those responsible must be held to account.
“none of these medications went to a child 12 years of age or younger”
Please correct the record @SenSanders :
Avery Jackson began Lupron at age 8
Jazz Jennings began puberty blockers at age 11
Layla Jane began cross sex hormones at age 12, double mastectomy at 13
Can we have a moment of praise for Steve Goodman OBE (@UKLabour) who told the Policy & Resources Committee yesterday that the @cityoflondon should comply with the law
Hurrah for Steve
The really crucial point here is that CRT/BLM's "antiracism" has ironically turned "institutional racism" from a vague, elusive slur, into a toxic social reality - bureaucratized, ritualised divisions; self-doubt; suspicion of mainly innocent and benign "White" majorities.
World Cup statue-toppling kicks off in Mexico City. Might have been a yellow card for diving and a second yellow for nudity.
But as usual with football-related statues, the ref was unable to identify the offending player.
