Chris, I love your work, but I’m going to call you out on this. You have means. There are people legitimately struggling, and they don’t want to have a second child if they aren’t sure they can provide for it. Try to put yourself in their shoes. (This lady may not be one of them, she appears to have a nice car and is choosing nice stuff over a second child). But she is also not wrong — inflation is real and the cost of stuff is out of control.

Before the 1950s, clover was a STANDARD component of American lawns.

Seed mixes included it on purpose.

Then broadleaf herbicides were invented.

They killed clover along with "weeds." So the chemical companies rebranded clover as a weed — to sell more herbicide.

That's it. That's the whole story.

Clover is not a weed. It's the future of your lawn.

White Dutch clover (Trifolium repens):
Self-fertilizing — fixes nitrogen from the air into the soil. No fertilizer needed. EVER.

…and it feeds the grass around it for free.

Drought-resistant — stays green when grass goes brown.

Bee paradise — constant blooms from May to frost.

Chokes out weeds — dense growth shades out weed seeds.

No mowing needed (stays 4-6 inches) — or mow monthly.

Soft underfoot — kids love it.

Costs $5-10 to overseed 1,000 sq ft.

How to add clover to your existing lawn:
Overseed in spring or fall.

Scatter seed (2 oz per 1,000 sq ft).

Water lightly for 2 weeks. Done.

Stop using broadleaf herbicides (they kill clover).

Stop fertilizing (clover makes its own).

Mow at 3-4 inches.

The lawn industry told you clover was a weed so they could sell you chemicals.

Take your lawn back.

I think about this post often.

When someone asks:

I can't help but think they just aren't being creative enough. Definitely not "Custom sword creative"

This guy has a 100% response rate from sending $1,000 custom swords to the owners of failing companies.

Each closed deal represents 7 figures of net profit. I love these stories so much.

Spraying roundup on weeds in the cracks of your driveway is kind of silly. Boiling water will do the same job better.

Pour it straight onto the weed and down into the crack. The heat ruptures the plant on contact and it wilts within the day. A stubborn deep-rooted one might need a second pour, but that's the whole method.

Roundup's own label tells you to keep it out of storm drains. And a driveway is basically a funnel straight into one. Every rain carries whatever you sprayed down the gutter and, in most towns, straight into the nearest creek with nothing in between.

Boiling water kills the weed and stops at the weed.

I designed, built, and run the first year round indoor temperature independent snow park in the US. Pigeon Forge Snow.

Also have done a bunch of other random stuff - own some self serve car washes, bought a golf course, developed a 80 acre subdivision, starting a dirty soda brand, started and sold an alpine coaster, 2013 bitcoiner, bought a bunch of real estate, you get the idea...
