Thank you to our investors @viewfromhk@ysiu of @animocabrands for being a pillar of strength and supporting teams working to build a user-first open metaverse.
@Noahpinion@mpawlo@balajis@JPBarlow Ever since that dark metaphorical day when the number of humans increased from 2 to 3, cleanness became mathematically impossible.

This is a great example of why I'm so proud of @optimismPBC for adding non-token governance (the Citizen House).
Optimism explicitly has goals *other* than just "make OP go up", and the only way to do that long-term is with explicit representation of non-token-holder interests.
@avsa I think we should also appreciate our existing successes on climate / environment!
In the last decade global CO2 emissions have finally stopped growing. And various other numbers (not all, but some) are getting better.
Lots of problems remain but we are not powerless.
@RectumSpectrum But remote work is amazing for the environment (and urban congestion), no?
Basically I think the environment dystopia is very real but we're already on the way to clawing ourselves out of it.
Deforestation too:
@RectumSpectrum The last decade is the first one in which CO2 emissions stopped increasing.
Also, from personal experience, progress in cleaning up the urban air in China over the last ~8 years has been amazing.
@brypto_boy First computer (ENIAC) to iPhone 13: 76 years
First flying airplane to humans on the moon: 66 years
And the big biomedicine push is going to have AI helping us.
Another example might be the ethereum identity space (@signinwitheth + ENS + POAPs + maybe soon SBTs).
These smaller spaces can help create new optimistic visions for the future *and* create something that people can be part of without also being part of the financialized cruft.
